Bots???

I know to many of you this will sound like a dumb question, but, what are/or is a bot?? "PLEASE NO BOTS,PHOTO COLLECTORS OR 1 LINERS" I found this on craigslist and have no clue what bots are. I don't even know if this is the right place to ask.

Could stand for robots [as in programs written to generally spam and make things awkward] or something else if I'm missing some random slang that I've never come across before.

Yeah, it stands for robots. Some chat rooms and other sites have gotten hacked by scripts or programs that create fake users to either gather information, spam the site, slow down the site (which is why on sites such as Lit, there's a stall time between the searches you can do), or otherwise be destructive.

I'm not up on all this new fangled computer stuff....lol. Hell I do good to get this thing turned on in the mornings. But yeah, that was my first thought of what it was, just didn't know what it ment...lol. Learn somethin new ever day....huh?? Thanks again,
