Kudos for Aglo calling out bad behavior for what it is, despite this not having anything to do with either her ox being gored, or being related to some sort of my 'team' sort of dynamics.

We can reasonably argue at some length at exactly what period of history that team blue commonly had this sort of now socially unacceptable thinking, and whether those bad actors did or did not migrate to team red, but I remember a time with the promise of the enacted civil rights legislation that people of good will, of all colors and political persuasion were united around the idea that character, not color mattered. That was a time when I was of the idea that people who had differing political opinions than mine were sincerely good people who were simply misinformed. I found that people who had different political opinions than mine who knew me personally seem to hold me with that same level of basic esteem.

Instances of internal policing of hateful rhetoric are sadly becoming rare.

I don't mean to imply by any of the above that Rob is an actual progressive and that Robs defeceit of character are therefore endemic among the thinking of progressives. I've never really bought that his faux virtue signaling is sincere. He's like those 1960s fake hippies that just grew long hair dabbed on some patchouli and hung out at peace rallies to score hippie chicks.

He's obviously a classic, dying breed, (likely intergenerational) southern racist with deeply ingrained biases against people of color. When he's being most charitable on the topic he is condescending and patronizing. He's awful quick with the slurs. I have not heard the n-word amongst the few people that I have known to hold "less than" views of people of color with the ease that he unholsters that and other slurs.

Even if it wasn't such a common occurrence with him I don't think those sort of slurs slip out of a tolerant mind. How do those words rattle around in your head if you have basic human respect for your fellow man as the baseline, irrespective of color?
