Bondage Requirements

My preference is generally for steel handcuffs or shackles in matching sets. My subs who are into this fetishes know this and also prefer cuffs and shackles because they are easy to put on and hard to remove without a key.

The problem though is that I often do not keep a close watch on the keys or if they are modern handcuffs with a standard key, there are many sets of keys in my dungeon house so it is practically impossible to find them all.

For me, a feeling of being completely unable to escape is as important or perhaps more so than the degree of restraint.

A single pair of handcuffs or leg irons with a unique key that is unavailable is more appealing than a full set of locking cuffs that have keys that can easily be found around the house.

What are the requirements for you all subs? Is the feeling of restriction enough or is it necessary to be restrained without hope of escape? Is it necessary for someone else to be controlling the keys or is a time lock of some kind equally appealing?

Restriction is enough.
In my world I ALWAYS have a way to escape - it's called a safe word. I have never actually used it, but I need to know that if something goes really wrong it is available.

Preferred - ropes or leather cuffs with buckles. Scarfs and any other fabric will do too.
Unappealing - steel, plastic, leather with velcro.
Anything that can be locked and there is no safety pin or button that can be used if the key is lost is a hard limit.

Comfortable restraint was always my preference and is now a necessity. And nothing beats the nap and smell of leather cuffs, and how good they look.

So never liked handcuffs, and anyone careless with their keys would be a big red flag for me.

Rope can be effective and look good. Less stylish but effective would be velcro cuffs and straps. A vegan friend has heavy rubber cuffs - you really feel the weight, so in some ways better than leather, even. Cute furry cuffs and ones of other materials tend to be fragile shit. I've broken a couple when shop staff swear they're tough enough... It's got to be effective.

Totally unsexy in itself, yet surprisingly effective, is Saran wrap. UK clingfilm is harder to manipulate as it's thinner and quicker to turn into a ball.

My favorite is being tied very spread eagle with my partners sheep fur lined cuffs. Legs spread as far apart as they will go. All four cuffs pulled out as tightly as possible making any movement by me nearly impossible. Then a 5th line from a ring on the bottom of a ball stretcher pulled down very tightly.

Make sure you have a safety release just in case. My sadist friend hat them so when I was tied to the beams of the ceiling I could release myself in an emergency. I never had to but it was nice to know she had thought things thru.

My most recent Pro Mistress improvises with tie wraps and a belt around my waist. That's off the chain. Not for me. But yes we improvise. A lot of my play is remote. So sitting on my hands, blindfolds, tying body parts to posts and pulling and hold positions. I then have to perform tasks.

I prefer leather or faux leather cuffs with buckles. Black. Need to be snug, hold securely, but not pinch nor hurt. I need to FEEL restrained. Must have D rings for securing straps with clips or ropes. Love those straps that are a web that goes over the mattress. Lots of rings for attaching cuffs. Love under the mattress straps. No metal, would hurt and leave marks. I need to be able to escape if my partner has a medical emergency. Thus clips work well. We keep heave duty scissors nearby too. EMT scissors. Haven’t broken anything yet but that’s due to not enough play! Wait, I did bend an over the door bathrobe hook so much it wouldn’t fit over the door anymore! Need over the door hooks I can’t bend!
