Just signed my name as The Earl on a post on another message board. Very public, where people who know me know that I post.

Never has the edit button been hit so quickly. Edited the post, removed the name, then hit Submit.

Oh fuck! The internet's just fallen down. Run upstairs, hit the reset button on the router, run down and hit Submit.

C'mon, c'mon.

Phew. Don't think anyone noticed.

You made me larf. It ran like a comedy skit in my head. (And you looked like Jeff.)

Pear ;)

Take deep, calming breaths, TE. Then when you've got the old heart rate below 100, think about turning that incident into a story.

Soothingly,

Rumple Foreskin

And you think nobody here knows you in your "real life"?

Muahahahaahahaaaaaaa!!

Kidding. :p

Kind of.

Oh, what a lovely hijack.

SOme Litsters meet from time to time, according to this board.

How many of you have met other Litsters whom you did not otherwise know?

How many of you would like to do so?

Is there any support for, say, quarterly Lit meetings in local chapters?

How about a meet in Cardiff in, say two months time?

When I started using Oggbashan as an alias on Yahoo I was a newbie to the Net.

I didn't realise that every time I sent an e-mail the sender showed as my real name.

I panicked for days until I realised that the only emails that were embarrassing had been sent to some very good Net friends. They kept my identity secret and have done for years.

Now I am not so bothered about 'me' being identified. I would prefer not to be.

I made a couple of mistakes when I first used jeanne_d_artois and edited as fast as I could on a dial-up. A couple of AH people noticed before the edit. They kept quiet until I came clean on April 1.

Most people here know I'm a dirty old man who likes chasing Lou's disappearing backside. In real life I'm tolerated even by those who know I write for Lit. They don't know my Lit name or what I write except 'The Garderobe' which has been circulated under my real name.

Most people aren't bothered by knowing that I write on Literotica - but I am self-employed. I have no boss. I am in politics yet I do not hold a publicly paid office. All my political work is done for free. I don't even charge my expenses and none of the organisations I represent accept any public funds because if they did their independence (and mine) would be compromised.

I can say, if asked: 'I write for Literotica. So what?'

I can understand The Earl's panic. He might not want to jeopardise his studies or his future career by being publicly associated with the degenerates of the AH. Me - I am long past saving.

I have met one other Litster in "real life." I wouldn't mind meeting some other Lit friends, if time and circumstance allow it. I know there are some sections of the U.S. that have "Lit-togethers" twice a year, but they mostly post in the Playground, I believe.

I have been screwed over very liberally about a piece of writing in the past and so really like my privacy.

I do know lots of people who wouldn't give a damn about my writing and in fact would find it quite fun to know. But I like my secret. It's a gift that I can bestow on people - trusting people IRL with the knowledge of my Lit stories and trusting people on Lit with my real name.

I have never met another Lit member in real life, at least not that I know of. I think it would be rather cool to do so, at least some of them. Probably most members because we tend to be rather free-spirited.:rose:

I don't really believe that there ARE any other Litsers. My believe is that all of you are created by my computer's character generator. For that reason, I can see no purpose in going to a meeting.

In my extreme youth I attended a Science Fiction convention, and unless the AA becomes necessary I am not planning to join anything which involves regular meetings.

People at work know that I write stories and that I post them on the internet, but I don’t have to worry about what they would say if they read them --- not even when I must leave my lappie untended. I don’t need to worry that they will snoop through my stories, nor find them online, either.

That’s one benefit of working with a bunch of illiterates.
