Been wanting to ask this and kept forgeting , I thought of it again while reading another thread..........Where can you buy those little dishes you put oil in and place it above a candle to warm the oil up? Anyone have a clue what I mean? I looked in a candle shop but haven't found them yet........................

Try a Pier 1 Imports or Home Place.

They'll probably carry them as incense oil warmers, but as long as you watch the temperature of the oil, it should work.

If you mean the type that's usually used to warm fragrant oil to scent the room...be VERY careful, the oil gets really hot really quickly.

If it's for massage, the heat from your hands should be enough.

Any shop that sells oils for scenting rooms should sell the burners, tho'.

BeautyBabe is right, those things get really hot. A smaller dish of oil placed in a larger dish of hot water would work as well, and be much safer.

Good point, I thought the little dish sat high enough so it would warm not heat the oil if that is true then the others ways are a better and safer way to go about warming it.....Thanks folks............

Just my humble suggestion....perhaps you can try one of those baby crockpots. I think they make them for potpurri (sp?) that you mix with water and then heat, but it has a high and a low setting.

Might work...who knows. You can buy them at most stores (wal-mart, K-mart...any department store.)

for warming the oil I use in massage i siply have a large cermaic style bowl filled with wram water and in it float another smaller ceramic bowl with the scented oil in it and it heats through the the bowl, therefore not getting to hot.

Southern you're absolutely right, those mini crock pots are designed to warm potpourri. The only trouble would be that at least mine has no tempurature control on it and whatever is inside it gets very hot. Perhaps using the submersion method would warm it without risk of bodily injury which would really ruin the mood!

On a side note, Victoria's Secret massage oils aren't the best for massage if you plan on licking the person directly afterward. I used it once and both my partner and I got numb tongues. It was really freaky. I think they put some kind of anesthetic in it to relax you? <shrugs>
