ABsolutely I salute those of you who've stood up and made an unqualified statement that you think the Incest thread is downright wrong. (Cowboy I knew was all right!)

And to the little babies squirming in their seats about their right to free speech.
Sorry! There is such a thing as right and wrong. See, some people are trying to say it aint simple, a complex issue, and that just because an author writes something doesn't mean they commit the crime.

Of course every case is unique and no, authors probably don't do the doing. However this is not recognizing what human nature is and the role that ideas play in its complexity. There is no such thing as complete individual freedom in any society on earth so get over it. Freedoms are limited and the clause 'freedom of speech' does not apply to pornography in any way. It is designed to guarantee the media's right to criticize the government and avoid totalitarianism.

A society comes together to protect its individuals and to honor them. Any given society will base its legal system upon a foundation of morality that comes from the dominant religion of that society. And on some issues, dominant religions are in agreement based on shared human experience. Those things we may label general human truths, because they have been tried and tested through the ages.
One of those truths is that Incest is a form of sexual abuse. Now the evidence comes from the many victims who have had to deal with the aftermath of such encounters.

To put it simply, no , Brettj does not break laws with his literature. He skirts a fine line and makes sure that characters are labelled '18' in order to get around the paper law. But everybody knows what the intention is of the story and so that is what we criticize. A story or work of art must justify its existence through its validity, and if there was something more to these stories than the pure titillation of exploring a fantasy of a hurtful and forbidden sexual act, then maybe it could be justified.

But the Incest thread exists to titillate those who've abandoned any kind of decency and seeks to lure others into that same state. And I understand, there is financial gain connected as well. It makes a mockery of real life experiences, and so we say it should be removed!!

There is no real justification and to cry murder about censorship and freedom of speech does not apply.

For all the dreamers of non-consent incest literature, why not do your homework and go talk to real victims about it and see what they have to say. Your attitude ought to make you sick to your stomach.

This thread disgusts me to no end. I said something in it one day, not expecting any love from anyone in it, and not wanting it either. Those people are fucked up, pure and simple. You can't put a positive spin on fucking your family. The worst part of it, it seems to show up on the front page way too often. If it was on page ten, or on another part of this board, I wouldn't care...even though those people should have their heads examined.

I like the free for all way of this board, but it's too bad that in this instance, they can't or won't do something.

Because this isn't about that. As a community we can't just ignore things which outrage common decency? We act! It isn't just about looking after your own ass. its about protecting and honoring the victims of real life crimes from those who mock. The incest thread is LIBEL against them and it it seeks to profit from their pain.
