Blue State Blues: ‘Insurrection’ is ok, as long as it’s by the Left

A group of radical extremists invaded the State Assembly, interrupting the first day of the legislative session and forcing lawmakers to flee the chamber. They continued to occupy the legislature even after the lights were turned off. But eventually, they were allowed to leave peacefully, and there were no arrests at all.

The reason: unlike the January 6 protesters in Washington, the California protesters are on the political left.

Long before a crowd of angry Donald Trump supporters — and a still-unknown number of provocateurs — invaded the U.S. Capitol, Democrats had repeatedly used the tactic of staging protests inside legislative buildings, both at the state and federal level, and praised themselves for their bravery.

Some insurrections, evidently, are OK.

Obstruction isn't why Jan 6 is considered an insurrection.

That being said, anyone interrupting government duties should be prosecuted.for obstruction if demonstrated under CA law.

There are Jan 6th insurrectionists rotting in prison right now, and even more whose lives have been destroyed by their own evil.

Such a pleasurable thought. God is good. 🙏

LMFAO,man they're digging deep in the weeds over at Britbart today. I guess with all the good news going on it's hard to find red meat for the cult.

But on a serious note, the "protesters" didn't break windows, or doors, defecate on the floors, or even disrupt the Senate meeting going on at the same time at the other end of the hall.

Yep, get out the rope and hang em high...right?

For anyone interested, here's a more accurate description of went on by the protesters who came from all sides of the political spectrum.

Listen folks, this isn’t about “yeah, but.” Right is right, wrong is wrong, you get caught doing wrong, you stand trial and accept due process. Our democracy is at stake. We need to point fingers at the wrong doers, not generalize by party.

^^^ "Both-sides" bullshit.

There is only one party that violently tried to overturn the results of a Presidential election so that their party could remain in power.

No, the Republicans made significant gains in 2020. Several congressional seats and key races in the senate helping them maintain a 50/50 split with only the vice president being the tie breaker. It was only Trump that really lost in 2020.

If the dems did steal that election they did a piss poor job of it. They only netted the Whitehouse for all thst supposed effort and money it took to steal it. Why couldn't they do the same to be able to get enough if a majority in the senate so Manchin and sinema wouldn't be in the position they were in in 2021 obstructing the dems' supposed socialist agenda from getting passed.

That to me is a really shitty result for a conspiracy of that scale.

Today we learn that calling for an end to killings in Israel is tantamount to trying to overturning the US Constitution (according to Trump supporters).

Sounds like some pretzel logic going on if so.

JONATHAN TURLEY: The biggest problem for me is that the 14th Amendment, Section Three, deals with rebellion and/or insurrection. This was neither. This was a riot and at some point, mature minds have got to kick in here and say, look, he has never even been charged with incitement, let alone rebellion and insurrection. But more importantly, putting aside the fact that he hasn't been convicted, this wasn't a rebellion or insurrection. I know that the other side has really tried hard to portray it that way, but the American people don't even view it that way. Polls indicate that the public views this as a protest that became a riot. It doesn't excuse what happened. [...]

It's a tit-for-tat politics. And the terrible thing is that this is the most successful and stable democracy in the history of the world. And yet, after this long successful run, you have blind advocates today trying to introduce an instability in that system that could destroy it. This is the type of theory that can destroy a democracy. And, you know, there's a poll showing that the majority of people do not believe in this disqualification. Some 40% do, but it shows how dangerous this is. We are a divided country and you have people who are trying to win this election in the courts.
