Bloodlust IC

((OOC: Hey! You said she was a good dancer... I had to do something...))

She laughed at how he suddenly knew how to dance. She moved along step for step with him. The Valium made her smirk. "How often do you take that... And what sort of nervous disorder do you have?" She teased again until she found herself spinning again.

She had noticed that he was really afraid and they began tangoing the other way. Diana was not sure why they weren't just leaving. Would that bouncer really stop him and make him go to the VIP Lounge. It was then she got the strange feeling that she was being watched. Sure there were men but there was a different set of eyes on her.

"I'll show you the easy way out darling..." She said before stepping away and giving a random man a rough shove sending him colliding into another. Of course this led to a series of yelling screaming and fighting. People loved the angst... with this came a fight which had the bouncers occupied which left Diana to walk John out the front door. "Easy right?"

"I think I love you," I tell Diana as we walk out of the club. Her diversionary tactic had all of the club's big, burly, bald-headed bouncers storming onto the dance floor to break up the ensuing melee. "By the way, I was just kidding about the Valium comment -- kind of. I've never taken one in my life, actually..."

Or, even after, I thought to myself.

"Here's my car," I say, beep-clicking it open with the remote key thingy. "Where's yours? I can give you a ride to your car, if you have no problems hopping into a stranger's vehicle..."

I take some mints from my pocket that I swiped from the club's foyer, and offered her some as I opened the passenger's side door for her.

"Want some candy?"

She blushed at the 'I love you'... "You won't believe how often people tell me that after I start a bar fight..." She laughed.

"I figured you weren't the sort," she said with a smile.

"My car is at my apartment complex," she said laughing at the situation. It was hard to explain to someone who didn't know about vampires or anything of the sort. She knew that they existed... she had seen them but not everyone knew. She wasn't sure that someone like John would know. "How about a cup of coffee?" She asked as she accepted a candy. She had some questions for him.

"Coffee sounds good," I reply. "Would you prefer the overly-expensive coffee shop kind or the more reasonably-priced homemade version?"

I wait for her to get in the car, and close the door for her once she's safely inside. I trot over to the driver's side, and pull my wooden sword from its hiding place before climbing into the car. I place my bokken between my seat and the parking brake, a habit that keeps it close to me while I drive.

"Yeah, I know," I say toDiana as I pull the car out of its parking spot and into traffic. "What can I say? It helps me work the pity-factor angle with cute chicks such as yourself. So, where am I driving you, Miss Daisy?"

"I know of a little diner," she said with laugh at being called Miss Daisy. She noted the wooden sword and was unsure how to touch that subject. Atleast she had her gun on her. When did she not have a gun on her though?

"So... What's with the sword?"

Yeah... sometimes subtle wasn't her cup of tea. "Turn right at the next light," she instructed as they drove further further from the club. "On the left side of theroad," she pointed to the little diner that was probably the only place still open in the middle of the night.

"Cup of coffee, lots of sugar and milk..." She said. Diana hated coffee but needed the caffiene.

"The bokken?" I ask, trying to buy time to think of a plausible answer. "Well, it's a phallic symbol. Some men have guns, some men buy expensive cars and all of us wish we had a bigger penis. As for myself, my limited budget dictates I have a sword -- a wooden one."

The diner is mercifully near, and I take the opportunity to change the subject by getting out of the car and trotting over to her side to open her door.

"So, tell me about yourself," I say as soon as we get seated. She orders a coffee and I order some tomato juice.

"My digestive system isn't what it once used to be," I said in explanation.

She laughed outright at his explaination for the sword. She shook her head. "Fine, if you don't want to tell me," she chuckled as they sat in the diner. There were a few other people sitting around and eating but none of them seemed quite at all like them.

"What do you want to know?" She asked.

"And know that I have some questions for you... Like why weren't those guys going to let you leave and who are you really?" She asked.

"Everything," I replied simply, sipping on my tomato juice and then gimacing shortly afterwards. "I'd like to at least pretend this is a date, so if you don't mind, I'd like to know what there is to know about you. So far, I know you like martinis and coffee; that you are a very good dancer, and you know how to implement and execute diversionary tactics. Anything else?"

I sigh, somewhat in resignation.

"Well, I usually don't tell people this," I begin cautiously. "But, if things seem to be heading where they're heading, there is something that you must know about me... and my past. I usually try to avoid talking about it, because people might make judgements about me out of ignorance or stereotypes..."

I steel myself with a pause, a gulp of tomato juice and a subsequent grimace.

"I used to be a lawyer," I blurt suddenly. "I'm not ashamed of it; I worked hard to be a lawyer, and I tried to do good deeds during my practice. But don't worry, I'm not a lawyer anymore. I'm kind of a vampire now, so, if you have any reservations about me being an attorney, well, that was another lifetime... Uhhh... literally."

I try to catch our waitress' attention as she walks by.

"Umm, Miss? Could I have a straw please?"

She smirked at that. It was true, except for the coffee part. She really didn't like coffee... she merely drank it because caffiene kept her going. Diana was waiting for them to develop a patch for caffiene. She took a drink ofher more milk than coffee before speaking.

"I'm a photographer," she said, "My ex-boyfriend works for a small time magazine. They don't pay much but I can pay my rent and feed myself," she said with a chuckle. "I also do some freelance photography which pays more than Mark can get me... But the freelance is never steady work." She was playing with her spoon now.

It wasn't that she missed him... it was sad that he was a main source of her income now.

Diana stared at him for the longest time. She wasn't sure if he was just messing with her or not and if he was she was far more likely to shoot him than if he really was a vampire. "Excuse me?" She asked hoping that it was simply the late night that was getting to her.

"You're a vampire?" She asked in total disbelief. When he answered she began rubbing her temples. "Itjust fucking figures..." She grumbled.

"Well, yes, I am a vampire," I say, feeling uncomfortable. "I've only been a vampire since the early 1990's, and I only drain evil people who somehow manage to escape justice... Erm, is that gonna be a problem?"

I look at Diana with evident concern and trepidation.

"Wait, are you saying you might not want to be out on a date with me -- just because I'm a vampire? Isn't that racist or something?"

Rayne

Walking into the club, I looked around, I had just come to town, this looked and felt like the kind of club I was most comfortable in. I was wearing my usual sleeveless top, a black jacket, black pants and a pair of comfy boots. Walking to the bar I scanned the room, so far the council had no issues with me, following the rules since I was turned was going in a good direction.
Turning to the bar man I nodded, any drink would do for now. I just wanted to see what the crowd was like.
The place looked as though a major fight had taken place, shrugging I leaned against the bar, watching people.

Diana stared at him for while.

"I don't think that it's racist if I don't want to date a vampire..." She said slowly. It wasn't that she didn't want to go out with John it was just that... well, he was a dead guy...

"I'm a hunter..." she said after a moment.

God forsaken... Maximilian had lost his targets, his view blocked by the slow-dancing mortals. Minutes passed, still no sign of them. It was highly probable they did not make it to the VIP room, fleeing instead. Shame. He was getting thirsty again.

A commotion caught his attention and he instantly knew. They had left. Perhaps another day they would meet again. For now, Maxi made his way back to the bar. Interesting...

So he thought spotted a woman standing next to the bar, leaning against it. She was watching the crowds. Strange, she seemed not a mortal, a vampire instead. Wonderful. Part of Maximilian hoped for a Licent. A fight was what he wanted, but another part of him wished for the female to be a Vassal.

Maxi stepped next to her, staring at her with a grin on his face. "Hey there. Friend of foe?"

James shot a sidelong glance at the fresh meat arriving at the bar, a woman young in appearance but more then likely that wasn't the case at all. A quiet sniff confirmed that fact, she didn't have that "alive" smell that mortals had. He took another sip of his Southern Comfort & Coke and flashed her a fanged smile, letting the young lady know that she was in the comfort of her own kind. He then went back to sipping his drink, the ball was in her court and James was not a chaser of women, he preferred them to simply come to him. Frankly, James had simply developed that much ego over the years where he simply couldn't be bothered if they didn't make a move first.

Diana stared at him for while.

"I don't think that it's racist if I don't want to date a vampire..." She said slowly. It wasn't that she didn't want to go out with John it was just that... well, he was a dead guy...

"I'm a hunter..." she said after a moment. "I hunt vampires... I haven't found too many yet but I was basically in that bar because I got a tip from a couple of punk kids..." She said sounding frustrated.

She stood up and looked down at him. God she was confused now. How was she supposed to act now that there was this guy, this handsome guy, that wanted to date her and she was finding out that he was dead....

Looking around I saw a man at the other end of the bar flash a smile, which had vampire written all over him. Licent or Vassal I wasnt sure.
Startled I turned round as I was asked "Hey there. Friend of foe?"

Looking at the man, I nodded a hello, "Friend, or foe? now that depends on who is asking." I replied.

Studying him from under my eyelashes

"Friend, or foe? Now that depends on who is asking."

Maximilian grinned, licking his teeth in the process. She clearly wasn't a fool. Only an idiot would instantly know an answer for that. He stepped closer, wanting to talk in a more private way. Well, as private as can be in a club. If you could make yourself heard, then you always had a bartender to worry about. Maxi had been prepared for such things, making sure that the mortal did not hear them talk.

"Maximilian Christiansen, a faithful follower of the Council, member of the Paladins."

There, the cards were on the table. And Maxi's fingers began to fiddle with the pummel of his falchion. If she was a Licent, he would strike her. If not, well... Things first had to get that far.

Having waited around in the VIP room quite long enough, Kiana decided that Des must have been playing some sort of prank. There was no one there and there certainly wasn't anyone to drink from. Despite her earlier despondancy she was glad she'd gotten dressed and come out however. Now that her blood was flowing - so to speak - she felt the urge to hunt.

But not here.

The pickings at the club however were far to easy. She could take any number of the humans out on the dance floor below her but there was no thrill...no challenge. As she thought it she laughed softly at herself for taking so long to realize what her problem had been all along.

Kiana was bored.

Striding back through the bar with a delighted smile curving her lips she saw a couple talking but there was something in the way the man was standing that sent alarm bells ringing through her head. Moving through the crowd she barely noticed them parting around her as she slipped up to the bar.

She saw another vampire not too far down and nodded politely but her attention was focused on the couple and her blood ran cold when she heard the male introduce himself as a Paladin. None of the human swirling around them like walking Big Mac's would have heard him but Kiana wasn't human. Still she pretended not to notice as she ordered a tequila shot and downed it savoring the heat of it burning through her throat and stomach.

Deciding not to wait to find out what the Paladin's intentions in the bar were. He was a Paladin, that was enough to know. Turning awa from the bar she glanced at the other male vampire down the bar wondering if he was Licent or Vassal. If he was a Vassal then the Paladin wasn't an issue, if he was a Licent though and she just left without telling him...Shaking her head to herself Kiana realized she just couldn't do it.

Sidling down along the bar she smiled warmly as she leaned in close and whispered so softly that not even another vampire but this stranger would hear.

"The trueblood down the bar is a Paladin. If you're a Licent I'd find somewhere else to be tonight."

James slowly shifted his eyes from the striking vampiress in front of him to the pair towards the far side of the bar. A quick cursory glance of the fellow indicated that more then likely she was right and it was indeed a good idea to make a quiet exit. Being undead was one thing, being completely dead was quite another thank you very much!

"Paladins, always fucking with my favorite hang out spots. Nasty lil buggers!" James sneered with contempt, his attention turning back to the lovely woman in front of him. This was indeed a good day for James, not only was she forthcoming with useful information but indeed she was quite pleasent on the ole eyes. With a gracious smile and a small motion of his hand towards the door, James whispered low to her.

"Well, shall we find a new place to drink and maybe a snack for the road then? I feel as though I owe you both at this point for that would of been a rather nasty lil surprise."

He rose off his stool and smoothed out his t-shirt back over his jeans, deciding that looking nice for his savior and potential date was not a bad idea at all. His eyes stayed on her, eager to move for the door but choosing to let her take the lead, ladies before gentleman and all that.

"Paladins, always fucking with my favorite hang out spots. Nasty lil buggers!"

Kiana chuckled softly at this strangers reaction and nodded her agreement. Paladins were a menace but they were also just a simple fact of life. One did well to simply avoid them when possible. When the man stood she was pleasantly surprised to find he was taller than her...and rather handsome.

"Well, shall we find a new place to drink and maybe a snack for the road then? I feel as though I owe you both at this point for that would of been a rather nasty lil surprise."

"I'll take the drink," Kiana agreed and headed toward the doors, once more cutting through the crowd like a hot knife through butter and not even realizing it. "The snack I'll get for myself later. It's too damned easy in here with all these people stacked together like lambs lines up for slaughter."

"Like lambs eh? Then does that make me a sheep fucker technically?" His grin showed off his pearly whites and his two enlarged canines, his sense of humor a mixture of dark and raunchy. As they exited the front door of the bar, the chilly NYC air hit them like a brick wall but ellicited almost no reaction from the pair. One of the upsides to being undead is the fact that cold is no longer a consideration and due to this fact, James drove a black 2006 Mustang Convertible, one of his prized gambling spoils. Sure he had used his abilities to win the game but never the less, it was his fair and square as far as everyone else was concerned. He tapped a button on his key ring and the doors clicked open, a little smile of his face as a wonderful idea hit him.

"You drive, you pick the bar. Your the type of women that likes a whole lot of power between her legs." With that comment and a grin, he simply flipped the keys to her and hopped into the passanger side seat, eager to see where this new mystery woman would take them. She was definetly vampire and very very likely Licent, a wonderful combo as far as James was concerned and this lead to his easy demeanor. He eyed her as she slid into the driver's seat and adjusted the seat for herself, slowly making sure he took in every detail about her. If you couldn't read a person well, you were done in the world and everything that James was reading about her spoke volumes to the things that he liked.

"My name is James Sutherland and I'm a mere 100 years old. I'm Licent and a wicked gambler along with what some might call womanizing tendencies. I drink, smoke cloves and follow one motto in life. Fuck em, Kill em, Eat em. Ok, your turn now, shoot."

All the information was delievered rapid fire and matter of factly, his trademark style and James just sat back, waiting in turn to absorb her story, her information.

(( OOC: Whoops, sorry I seperated your char from her motorcycle. I just re-read it through and winced at myself. He can take her back for the bike of course, my bad! ))

Kiana rolled her eyes at the typically male ribald humor but a small grin was tugging her own lips at the corners...just not enough to show off the gracefully elongated canines that would have been the final proof of what she was. Instead of answering she just kept that small grin in place and gave a graceful shrug that said as clearly as words...you said it not me.

Outside she admire the car and her appreciation of him grew when he threw her the keys and made a comment about her liking power between her legs. Laughing at just how true that statement was she slid into the car and adjusted the seat and mirrors before glancing back out at her bike and blowing it a kiss.

She'd be back for it later.

Pulling out into traffic a wild smile curved her lips and she drove the way she rode...fast and pushing the car to it's limits despite the crowded streets.

"Kiana. Licent. Right now that's all you need to know."

"Kiana. Licent. Right now that's all you need to know."

This earned a grin from James, he was liking her more by the moment! Between the reckless driving, excessive speeding, snappy attitude and smoking body, it was almost too much goodness for him to handle. He got comfortable in his seat, fiddling with the radio until he found a jazz station, shooting her a side long glance.

"I happen to like jazz for the record so don't give me any shit about trying to be smooth and impress you. Don't worry, I have better tricks then that involving rope, blood, candles and uh......nevermind. Wherever we're going though, I have a pair of requests for the location. First, they serve good tequila and secondly, a pool table would be nice. After that, I have complete trust in you my mysterious Kiana. So much mystery to you....sort of hard to read exactly but I'm working on an idea. I like my idea frankly. "

Watching his hand move to his weapon, I Relaxed a little, I smiled, "I'm Rayne, and looks like i'm a friend." He had moved close enough for me to not move any further back or any of the sides, since it was too crowded. Grinning I looked across to see another woman talking to the vampire who had been smiling earlier at me. Noticing them leave I raised an eyebrow, and turned back to talk to Maximilian. "Mind if i call you Max, otherwise it becomes a mouthful" grinning at the slight word play. I studied the other vampire with interest.

Kiana never took her eyes off the rode as he spoke. Her driving might appear reckless but it was truly smooth and disciplined and she had complete control of the vehicle she drove and knowledge of where the cars around her were. He had been right earlier...she liked the power in a vehicle and liked to push it to it's limits.

"Tequila and a pool table I can do," she said and smoothly changed lanes before taking a series of turns at speeds that would have had most people fishtailing and losing control but the car simply seemed to purr under her driving and did what she wanted.

"So what's this idea about me that's forming in your head James?" she asked at last as she parked in front of a bar that looked like little more than a small dive and was in one of those neighborhoods that "good" people avoided after dark and ran through as quickly as they could in the light.

Tossing him back his keys she sauntered inside simply expecting him to follow and answer her question.
