I've been outside several times. We have snow and 28 degrees. After a few minutes, even bundled up, I'm shivering.

Greetings from my patio where I'm hanging out in my beach chair... The show has started. There are a handful of stars sprinkled across the night sky, I think the big dipper is at my five o'clock. The moon is about half gone by now. Not seeing any red yet.

If you even catch a glimpse of this unique event, its worth it. :rose:

Slipping out between writing, as I warm up. The hoodie, trench coat, gloves, and scarf didn't do it, so I added a blanket. Hopefully I don't catch pneumonia.

We got up about 1:30AM, in time to see the start of it, and hung around for an hour or so, going in to look at it occasionally through the top of the window, than out into the front yard to watch with Binocs and try to take pics, then back into the warmth. (was below freezing outside)

It was great, but the cameras in our phones just weren't good enough. Think I'll take a nap now.

My son wanted to see this, and my husband actually got up around 3am, but it was too cloudy to see much. He punted and we let the boy sleep.

I managed to get outside last night before turning in, and snapped a few pictures. They didn't come out that well, unfortunately. Still, it was a cool thing to see.

For those of you who missed it (and it was during the wee hours of the morn AND only in certain parts of the U.S.--not including those with cloud cover), here it is:

More what you did or didn't miss here.

I watched a good bit from the Griffith. The audio link was chaotic !
I was somewhat shocked at the sheer blind stupidity of several of those who sent a text (such as "SATAN_666" repeated umpteen times). I think it might have been better with a moderator, but that's just me and my old age, I guess.

I've seen a blood moon and it really is very impressive.

Yeah, the audio seemed to have been taken from the viewing area and I don't know what moderation control Livestream allows. But I just full screened it on my second monitor and turned the audio off.

Being in a different part of the world, we got to see the tail end of the event. so the moon rose as an orange ball and stayed that way for a couple of hours, I wish school was not an vacation i would have liked to discuss this with the kids. Wait no I love my vacation time scratch that!

I stayed up. All night. I went outside every few minutes to check the change in the moon. About the time the 'blood' color started, our cloud cover took over the entire sky. The pictures I have aren't much. But I tried!

Quite right! There's no reason for them to allow idiots and assholes to ruin the experience for everyone else. Did you send an email about it to the observatory?

Not yet, but thanks for the idea.
