I recall back when Sept 11 exploded into our lives, a lot of people gave blood because it was the only thing they could do to help at the time. A lot gave even if it wasn't the only thing they did to help.

But the need for blood is constant. Do you give blood?

I donated today, oh, and it might just turn out to be a good way to pick up nurse type chicks.

I try to give blood every three months or so. I have the "universal blood type" so they are always happy to see me give blood. The first time was a little scary, but after that, its no big deal.

I never have donated blood but there is a blood drive at church next week. Maybe I'll try then.

The Red Cross comes to my uni every 14 weeks on a blood-donor campaign and I do give blood then. For me it is something natural to do since I believe that the hour I spend there is not wasted. My bloodtype is AB so they like to see me donate blood anyway. Unfortunately I will not be able to donate blood or organs at home anymore because I lived in the UK longer than 6 months so in May will be the priliminary end to my blood donorship. :(

Halo :rose:

I did before 9/11 I'll do so long after it.

Although I'm not a fan of the process by any means.. But ya know there may come a day I need it myself.. It's only right.

:( I used to all the time, but I lived in the UK for 3 years, so I can't donate here anymore.

I can not donate blood because of piercings and tattoos. I have before though and I would more then willingly do it again.

I can't give blood. I have high blood pressure and once I ate out a former prostitute.

I don't give as often as I should. I have no excuses.

But I'll do better in the future, as I feel it is important to give. :)

I used to donate regularly, but I'm not able to anymore because of all my tattoos and ongoing tattooing.

Blood and platelets

I donate both on a regular basis. Platelets take a while so I do that when I have a day off or an afternoon (takes about 2.5 hrs). Its a good feeling.

I'm not allowed. even if my blood is pure and disease free.
Gay men were being turned away from blood donation centers on Sept 11,12th and 13th (in fact SO many people were giving blood at that point everybody was being turned away)

I think in order for me to give blood under "non crisis" circumstances I would have to go through channels...I'm not sure tho.

Frankly the only thing my blood is good for would be maybe getting a vampire stoned. ..

I haven't donated lately as often as usual, as I've been going through some personal changes, and haven't made the time. But I usually give at least twice a year, if not more often.

I'm also an organ donor.

I can't give blood. Too much time spent in Europe, so they don't want me. But I would fall under the "don't come near me with a needle" category anyway.

something else

in my line of work, one needs all the blood one can get.

actually, i DO need all the blood i can get, though it's not b/c of my job. my heart condition demands it.

I gave blood often while in the Army, though every time that I did, I felt really weird, dizzy, freaked out n`stuff...
I don't mind the needles, to be honest, I liked watching them go in, but I guess subconsiously, loosing so much blood bothers me...

Well I can certainly understand all those reasons. And yes I like it when they stick the needle in too.

I fall under 2 catagories. First would be can't give, second would be No Needles.

Can't give for two reasons:
1. When I did get in the chair, it took them 16 sticks to get the blood out.
2. When they got the blood out, I promptly passed out. It's a family condition, and the blood bank advises against donating if you have it.

I'm deathly afraid of needles anyway (they need to basically hold me down to get near me with one as is), and with the veins I have, you have to repeatedly stick me for it, so when they told me they advised against it, I decided I was going to follow it.

I don't know why I'm posting...

Don't come near me with a needle, not because I'm scared of needles, but because I'm scared of losing blood. I am dangerously underweight for someone my height. I would surely pass out and be very weak for a long time.

I don't like needles but overcome my fear to give blood regularly - last was a month or so ago.

Btw What is this about not being able to give blood if you live outside America for a while - does your blood go off if you are not breathing in that clean ol' USA air? LMAO

Ouch! sounds horrible.
since i work out so much, some of my veins are easy to find, thus when I "flex" they can easily stick em, lol.
