Black kid gets more jail time for stealing shoes than Afluenza white boy who killed 4

I live in Georgia so I already know how bad the 3 strikes and you’re out rule is bad. First two crimes very bad, third crime a bullshit mediocre crime and they throw the book at you. That’s why they are trying to change the laws here to reflect that. Hell, even a bullshit DUI charge on the third offense could get some serious jail time. I’m willing to bet the kid had a a rap sheet that was pretty extensive.

That kid in Texas that got off because of “Afluenza” would be under the jailhouse in Georgia no questions asked.

Okay, so after reading the article, apparently there was a gun involved - which explains a lot since details are important here. Reguardless if the trigger is pulled or not, that’s armed robbery. At 15 he can be tried as an adult in Georgia. With no prior convictions, he got off light with 5 years on a first offense. Had he robbed the wrong person here in Georgia, there wouldn’t be an article to read about it. There would be an obituary and a funeral - end of story.

As far as the kid in Texas that got off on “affluenza”, Georgia doesn’t play that bullshit. He and his mom would be under the jail for awhile - like a good long while.
