Bitching about Boston

Let me see, you have nearly a 100' of snow and a lousy 1/3 of a million population and you think your old deprecated crap hole is worth more then a single post?

Well, here it is and this thread is closed.

You are welcome.

Talk about gluttons for punishment:

Bostonians buried beneath more than 8 1/2 feet of snow suddenly are clamoring for a little more so they can boast of a new record.

The city is just a smidgeon over 2 inches away from setting an all-time snowfall mark. So far this winter, it's gotten 105.5 inches, according to National Weather Service measurements taken at Logan International Airport.

The record is 107.6 inches recorded during the 1995-96 season. Records date to 1872.

Having endured weeks of misery, residents like Erin O'Brien insist they deserve bragging rights. Otherwise, some wonder, what was the point of it all?

Saint Patrick's Day parade is going to be a bear to deal with-
(The LGBT will be represented in the parade this year, so the Sour Grapes crowd will not be attending.)

Overnight and into tomorrow morning we watch for patchy fog, light drizzle, and patchy ice inland.

" A quick moving system to our NW will bring in colder air and light snow showers around midday"

" Our temps may start in the 40s, but will continue to drop from there. Before lunch, we could get a quick sprinkle, and then after 12p is when the snow showers will start. It's going to be a wet snow, or a "snizzle," if you will. It's the type of snow that is very fragile and melts quickly upon contact.

"That's why I don't think we will see much accumulation - and on treated surfaces and main roads, no accumulation."

"I mentioned too that the temps will drop as the day goes on. Proper parade attire: Coat, scarf, gloves, and your green hat. "

Thin layer of snow on the deck. Just, when the sheds lost their caps of snow.

Boston's miserable winter is now also its snowiest season going back to 1872.

The official measurement of 108.6 inches at Logan International Airport Sunday night topped a season record of 107.9 inches set in 1995-96, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton, Mass.

The final 2.9 inches came in a snowstorm that was relatively tame after a record-setting monthly snowfall of 64.9 inches in February.

The worst previous single month was January 2005 when 43.3 inches fell.

This official winter snowfall, measured from December through February this year, was 99.4 inches. That was the snowiest for the winter period, beating 91.5 inches in 1993-94.

Boston broke the seasonal record for snow on Sunday evening as a storm dropped 2.9 inches of snow on the city as of 7 p.m., bringing the official total at Logan International Airport to 108.6 inches, according to the National Weather Service office in Taunton.

The previous record was set in 1995-1996, when 107.6 inches fell.

Canada sends cold temps. Arctic front invading Boston, tonight

Will drop from 50f, to 30f, to around 20f.

18-22f tonight Be home by midnight, or freeze exposed flesh.
The snowmelt will freeze. Drunken stumbling on icy patches.
Wear hockey pads ? A helmet ?

28f Day after drunken rowdy night. Happy hangover!

15f Wednesday night. This is not kite flying weather.

(Will the snow stick around until April ?)

I am glad that I fought my fever, and did my ice and snow clearing, while the sun was shining.

The squall showed up. Everything fell, at once. Sleet, snow, hail. The blue sky disappeared. Now, there is a snow sky. The wind us kicking up.

All the lightly dressed, young, beautiful people had a tough walk.
They take pride in carrying nothing but a credit card and a cell phone.
There are plenty of sexy high heels, but cold toes.
Hurrah for car sharing! It got colder earlier than they predicted.

http://www.necn.com/weather/severe-...=Somerset&alertType=Special-Weather-Statement

STRONG COLD FRONT WILL WORK ITS WAY ACROSS MAINE AND NEW
HAMPSHIRE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. IT WILL BE
ACCOMPANIED BY GUSTY WINDS AND SCATTERED SNOW SQUALLS. A FEW OF
THE SQUALLS MAY START AS RAIN AT THE COAST AND AT OTHER LOWER
ELEVATIONS. THE BULK OF THE ACTIVITY WILL BE OVER THE MOUNTAINS
AND FOOTHILLS BUT SOME MAY MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE COAST. ANY HEAVY
SQUALLS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY BRIEFLY LOW VISIBILITIES IN HEAVY
SNOW WHICH MAY ALSO CAUSE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AS TEMPERATURES
DROP BEHIND THE FRONT. THE ACTIVITY SHOULD BE OFFSHORE BY 7 PM.

The sun is shining, again. Picture perfect New England landscape. Golden time, was a long time ago. (Autumn's golden light. ) So was copper time. (Early winter's red sunsets.) There are no sunsets, when snowskies glower for months on end.

The landscape looks so vulnerable and whimsical. You can see for miles off in the distance. The trees are not huddled and dark.

An April day in Boston? April Fool's Day Blizzard of 1997 Three feet of snow.

April days , that are so warm, quarry deaths return, and icy swims in the ocean begin early.

Or, "you cannot get there from here." Everything is flooded out. (Flush the salt water out of your muffler.)

This year, we have icebergs washing up on the beaches. The ocean ice broke up.

The month of March-

March 9 - 1982: John Belushi buried on the Vineyard

200 mourners who gathered in West Tisbury for a 45-minute requiem service, citing a trademark Belushi phrase, as reported by the Associated Press.

Vineyarder James Taylor sang "That Lonesome Road" and Belushi's close friend and colleague Dan Aykroyd drove a Harley Davidson to Abel's Hill Cemetery in Chilmark, where Belushi was laid to rest under a light snowfall.

Belushi came to fame as one of the original "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" when "Saturday Night Live" premiered in October 1975. Quickly establishing himself as one of the most popular actors in the cast, Belushi branched out into movies, appearing in the hugely successful comedy "Animal House," as well as music, collaborating with Aykroyd as "The Blues Brothers."
Among those attending Belushi's funeral were his mother Judy, brothers Jim and William, actor Bill Murray and SNL producer Lorne Michaels . Murray and Jim Belushi would both eventually buy houses on the Vineyard.

Belushi's grave is near the entrance to the cemetery, situated off South Road and across the street from Chappaquoit Road. His epitaph reads, "I may be gone, but Rock 'N' Roll lives on."

The last time that I had mentioned anything about Myra and Bob Kraft, is when there was a minor whiff of financial scandal. That was back in 2008, when I began to post on the GB. That was around the time that "Ken Kraft" was masquerading as a young woman.

Scandal touches the Patriots and Bob Kraft directly, as Bob Kraft is called to testify as a witness.

It has been said, that once a person commits a murder, they will say anything, do anything, to cover it up.

Aaron Hernandez looked into Patriot owner, Bob Kraft's eyes and lied.

"I was at the club." "I am innocent."

Aaron Hernandez said this to Bob Kraft two days after the murder

Mar 31, 2015

New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft has taken the stand in the murder trial of his former player Aaron Hernandez.

Kraft was called to testify Tuesday morning by the prosecution.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the June 17, 2013, killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.

Kraft says he took Hernandez aside two days after the slaying and asked whether he was involved. Kraft says Hernandez told him that he was innocent and that he was at a club at the time Lloyd was killed.

http://www.whdh.com/story/28663813/patriots-owner-kraft-takes-stand-in-aaron-hernandez-trial

This murder trial leads me to think connection between the head injuries and violence, and body building drugs.

Odin Lloyd might have been alive, today, if Aaron Hernandez had received proper skull protection and medical care. Aaron Hernandez's violent tendencies were exhibited before he joined the Patriot's team.

A nice day, they said. Warm and comfortable, they said.
I would have been just as comfortable, in a chilly, clammy,
and water logged tomb that was built into a rocky outcrop
by the sea.

Thank you for telling me about the sudden gusts, that were
knocking people over.

Yes, we had.five minutes of sun, before the sun started setting.

Who were these men brought up by ? A young man that is twice my size, sat on my left leg, to seat himself on the bus. Another man bulled himself through a group of old ladies and young mothers with baby carriages and little children.

To top it all off, a man who was not that tall or bulky, shoved an elderly lady in the back, because he needed the whole sidewalk, to himself.

The elderly lady and her elderly sweetheart were politely waiting at the edge of the sidewalk, next to the curb, to catch the bus.

WTF ?

I have seen people get very aggressive with their cars and SUVs.
The worst, was when I saw the big SUV nudge the baby carriage.
The most frightening was when a young lady speeding down the street,
her eyes blazing with rage, at me. My knee had given out on me, and I
was hobbling through the cross walk. I don't remember what I did, to get
out of her way. She never put on the brakes. She shot straight through the
crosswalk. There are no crossing lights, or pedestrian walk lights on that corner.
Most of the time, there is no traffic on that street.

This week, a man in a workman's truck ran over a pregnant woman, and hurt her leg, and caused head injuries. He ran her down. A camera caught him in the act. He slowed down a little, but he drove off. There was no reason for it. There was no line of traffic crowding his bumper. The road ahead of him was empty.

The weather news has spoken. For Boston, maybe snow, if, that, etc. Cold front plus rain. New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine must keep their snow shovels, ready.

Two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured.

"... her daughter (Reni Teyer) was detained at the airport on the way home from a visit to Russia for a cousin’s wedding."

Rein tells her mother, Elena, that her lover, Ibragim (Todashev) had been questioned and said that the FBI was following him everywhere he went.

Around 7:30 p.m. on May 21, two FBI agents knocked on Elena’s door.

“They spent two hours asking me the same questions over and over again: Did they sleep together? Did they sleep on the couch together when they spent the night at my place? How religious was he? Did he abuse her? "

(They had questioned her daughter Reni, and did not tell her.)

FBI agent calls Elena: Hello. We were at your house last night.”

This was when she (Elena) lost her cool. “You are going to start calling me at work now? I told you everything yesterday. I have nothing else to say to you.”

FBI relies to Elena- “We have something to tell you. Ibragim Todashev died of gunshot wounds this morning.”

Why? Why?” Elena remembers screaming, meaning, Why was Ibragim killed?

“He became aggressive,” the agent told her.

By the day of his death, he ( Ibragim Todashev) had been what the FBI called “interviewed” three times. May 16, his girlfriend, Tatiana Gruzdeva, was arrested.

1.)
Reni told the author that Ibragim had actually left Boston earlier and was not there on Sept. 11, the day the three men were murdered.

2.)Reni checked the records of their joint checking account: The charges Ibragim was making using his debit card showed he was elsewhere. (Not Boston)

The FBI agent fired seven shots at Ibragim, killing him ( Ibragim Todashev).
The FBI agent shot Ibragim three times.
The FBI agent fired four more shots, one of them hitting Ibragim in the top of the head and three of them hitting him in the back.

Elena returned to Fort Stewart in late June 2013, after Reni finally left for Chechnya with Ibragim’s body.

Elena’s commanding officer summoned her to inform her, apologetically, that the FBI had flagged her as being under investigation. She would be placed on indefinite paid leave: She could neither carry out her work duties in the military nor be reassigned or promoted as long as she was so “flagged.” The next day, Elena accepted a medical discharge from the Army.

Boston's militarized police-

Report On Bombing Response Cites Lack Of ‘Weapons Discipline’ In Watertown Manhunt

The report also reveals that shortly after the shootout, which led to Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s death, an officer near the scene fired on an unmarked state police vehicle after it was mistakenly reported as stolen. A state trooper and a Boston police officer in the vehicle weren’t injured.

Later in the day, when Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was discovered wounded and hiding in a boat, a police officer “fired his weapon without appropriate authority,” causing many other officers to believe the bomber was firing at them and leading them to open fire on the boat, according to the report.

No mention of the yahoos in militarized gear, who aimed their weapons on people in their homes.

I am not surprised. are you ?

Fatal mistake ?

A transit police officer, Richard Donohue, was critically wounded in the initial confrontation with Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev on a Watertown street April 19, 2013. The report doesn’t say whether Donohue was shot by fellow officers.

Thanks to the active new tornado zone in Massachusetts, we are acquainted with the damage that a tornado can do.

Tornado Watch

Watches are issued by the NOAA's SPC

"A watch is issued when conditions are favorable, for example, either for a severe thunderstorm or tornadoes," AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Dan Kottlowski said. "It doesn't mean severe weather is imminent."

Tornado Warning

Tornado warnings are issued by local offices of the National Weather Service (NWS).

Warnings mean that severe weather is imminent and is based on specific criteria and existing reports received by the NWS.

The criteria include hail that totals more than 1 inch in diameter and wind speeds of 55 mph.

"Lightning is not a criteria for a severe thunderstorm warning," Kottlowski said. "Heavy rain is not either."

NECC, the shame of Framingham, MA

By the fall of 2014, NECC’s once-respected executives and pharmacists knew they faced criminal prosecution for a wide range of serious offenses.

On September 4, Glenn Chin, the supervising pharmacist, was arrested at Boston’s Logan Airport as he prepared to board a flight with his family for Hong Kong.

Then, on December 17, federal agents launched a series of pre-dawn raids, arresting 14 NECC executives, owners and staffers. Cadden, the company’s president, was dressed and waiting when law enforcement officials reached his door; he was expecting them and had climbed out of bed at 4 a.m. so he would be ready to go when they knocked on his door.

In U.S. District Court in Boston, all 14 defendants pleaded not guilty to a wide assortment of crimes, including racketeering, fraud, conspiracy, violating federal drug laws and financial crimes. Only Cadden and Chin have been charged with murder. They face a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted on all counts.

yikes

They will start closing off streets, starting at five on the morning.

I am staying away from that mess.

Heartbreak Hill has not been the same, since the Eighties.

pffffftttt

Acton seems to be on the dartboard, for some weather action.

Was a lovely day, for getting my hands in the dirt. Seed beds, for seeds.
Was a windy day, but not that wild. But it has been wild, for some

A Delta flight from Paris was diverted to Logan International Airport after unsuccessful landing attempts at Newark Liberty International Airport due to strong wind shear.

Delta flight 271 was attempting to land at Newark but due to the strong winds in the area was first diverted to JFK.

After the unsuccessful landing attempts at both airports, the decision was made to divert the flight to Logan because of the extreme turbulence.

There are reports that at least one flight attendant was injured as a result of the turbulence.

The ambulance did not take off, at a rip roar, so the injuries must not be too serious.

Cold air, again. When warm air hits cold air, look out! ( Our lightning was not as impressive as Washington's. We did not get quadruple rainbows, like New York.)

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely with a slight chance of thunderstorms this evening...then scattered showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 40s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph...becoming west 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph after midnight. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Thursday: Partly sunny. Cooler with highs in the lower 50s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy in the evening...then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s. West winds around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Why not send some snow ? It will be cold, enough, somewhere.

Indecisive weather. Hail and rain. No layered icy baseballs, like out West. Just the kind that pings and makes tick tick tick noises. But, still, I hope to fuck that my street is not on the dartboard for a sudden development of cell. Super, or not.

yikes

Dead man from Lynn, in a Volvo SUV that was abandoned near the Northshore woods.

"A young man who had been off-roading in the area looked inside the window and called 911 when he saw the body."

Police say gunshots killed him, and that residents should not worry.

Helluva way to start off the season.

If we have another winter, like the one we just had, I will think of the Concordia research station, and be grateful and thankful.

*tip of that hat, to all the GB booklovers

As the Volvo Ocean Race has unfolded since it began in Spain in October, a worldwide audience has had a technology-assisted front-row seat.

Now, with the boats arriving in Rhode Island this week, New England sailing fans will be able to have a firsthand look as well.

Offline, a race village will be a featured attraction for the stop in Rhode Island. The race village is a massive exhibition that showcases displays on the race, sailing technology, boats from previous races, and virtual sailing adventures. In addition, visitors may get to see the sailors preparing to head off on the next leg of the race.

The race village opens May 6 in Newport, and the first boats are expected soon afterward. The sailors depart for Lisbon, Portugal, on May 17.

Team members seen, around Boston.

Suddenly, the horizon is obscured. Young leaves and blossoms on the trees. Young birds, with bright new colors.

The hawks have been visiting.

"The fire is now contained to just about 100 acres, and evacuation orders in the nearby area have been lifted. Route 206, which was initially closed on Thursday, has also been reopened."

"The wildfire that blazed through more than 700 acres in Wharton State Forest on Thursday produced smoke that could be smelled throughout South Jersey and as far away as Philadelphia and Bucks County, according to social media."

Another strange season. The soil is dry and dusty, or packed hard and dry.
It should be wet and annoyingly sticky.

No mud. New England without rain, in the Spring.

Normally, the rain is obnoxious. I have rain gear and rain boots.
