Bill and Hillary in '04

SYN, Bill can be President again. You too should learn the system if you are gonna be so free from it.

Ummm... Mouse, explain how Bill can be president again?

The 22nd Amendment says this:

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

Now, if you're thinking he could weasel his way in by being elected VP, and fill in for 2 years or less, well, the 12th Amemdment says this:

But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

Bill's done. Hilary's not going to run until 2008.

I believe its consecutive terms that are in play, not actual years. If Im wrong then I blame my public school education and rootbeer.

Lasher's right. It doesn't say anything about consecutive terms. It says "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice..."

Your wrong. It's 2 terms, period.

SYN, my apologies. I tried to be mean to you but I chose the wrong time. I'll do better next time.

I dread Hillary running for president.

I made the same dumbass comment two years ago and the unholy trinity nailed me square between the eyes...

NO MORE CLINTONS I do not like them their politics, their looks, or anything else about them.....remember the BTU tax that he had right out of the box after election, you would be payin a tax on your already high heating costs if that had passed. Or the increase in the death tax...if you like to vote for the democrats just send in all your money and then whine around their boots for some droppings to keep you alive. Why have all those Hollywood people who said they were going to move out of the U.S. if Bush got elected still here??????? Leave already?????

hi SIN . . . I think you may be correct . . . saw a newspaper article this week quoting the NY Times which said that Hillary would not run in 04 but was preparing for 08 . . . can the world wait that long?? . . . Bill is excluded because he has done his maximum two terms . . .

But the Bush Family Dynasty will keep Daddy Bush as "President behind the Scenes" for another 12 years . . . 04, Dubyah Shrub, 08 & 12 with Godd Ole Jeb the Lad . . . after all, Jeb needs his turn at standing out front while Daddy and his cronies get on with the business of government (that is beyond the comprehension of either off-spring) . . . :)

you obviously don't live here in ny

She's a brilliant politician, and a brilliant woman. Her resume is strong, her education superior, and her record in the realms of human and women's rights is laudable.

shrub wants to make more money for texaco, and finish his daddy's war. he's beyond pathetic at public speaking ("crusade" speech comes to mind), has no foreign policy skills, and his record as a govenor is pathetic. he also lost the popular vote and is our accidental prez

edited to add...if I remind you of why you don't watch tv, you remind me of why I don't want to get involved in the political threads on lit.

As a New Yorker who is "stcuk" with Hillary as a Senator, I'm curious what she has actually accomplished that makes her a "brilliant politician?"

Granted that she has a great education, but there are significant integrity issues as well as a lack of experience actually governing anything that make her laughable as a presidential candidate. If this is the best candidate that the Demecrats choose to field, than they have not only not learned a thing over the last few years, but they are practically guaranteeing a Republican victory.

Hillary, while an astute politician, simply does not have enough attraction with the eligible voters that get off thier asses and go polling. Lets look at the the ones she would have to sway.

Middle income white male
Southern, otherwise known as Reagan Democrats of both genders
Elderly

can anyone see two of these blocks voting for her? I sure cant.

C'mon Zip . . . as a card carrying member of the Republican Party, don't you think that you should acknowledge your affiliations on a thread like this one??

The Big Choice for Americans . . . an inarticulate alcoholic in remission manipulated behind the scenes by his former President father and his cronies OR a highly articulate motivated lawyer with years of State government experience, two years experience in the Senate, and two terms, eight years experience next to the President??

What experience did Dubyah Shrub have in government before the 2000 debacle?? Haliburton?? (Must find that Oz ABC Radio Background Briefing link). :)

Anyone have any polling data to show how Hills baby is fairing? Does she have enough base support to even consider in '08?

If not Hillary, who are the leading candidates for '04? Lieberman? Kerry? Edwards? Anyone else look like they're making a play?

First of all, I am a "registered" Democrat. However, I vote based on the candidates and the issues involved, not along party lines. When the Democratic party position became one of being the anti-republican one, they lost my support as a government party.

Unlike you, I do not hold the fact that Bush had a problem with alcohol earlier in his life against him. I think that all people who are able to overcome any addiction or abuse problem as being worthy of acknowledgement.

Hillary's "years of stae government experience" were mostly inconsequential positions given to her. As for her performance next to the President, I think she showed us her ability to lead with the Health Care reform issue, which was a huge fiasco, mainly because of her including mostly lawyers and minimizing the input of Doctors, not that they would have had any valuable input into a discussion on health care.

Bush was Governor of Texas, or did you miss that while you were passing out anti-American leaflets in the outback??

If she had more experience being next to the x president, he wouldn't been begging blow jobs off of interns.

I guess this qualifies Monica to at least run for the House of Representatives.

PS. Bush was twice elected Governor of Texas. In the election for Bush's second term as Governor, Bush won by the largest margin of victory in the history of Texas. He was, and still is, VERY popular in Texas.

When you post something intelligent about this topic again, I wouold be happy to reply. To boil down 8 years of public service to one single issue seems small minded, even for you.

And even if that was the case, it still blows Hillary's public service record out of the water. Nice try to deflect the topic.
