Biggest complaint?

I am curious, what is peoples biggest complaints as far as stories go? Is it that editors don't do enough to cut out the simple one liner threads? Perhaps you'd like to see a bit more realism in characters? Or perhaps you'd like to see a bit more plot in stories?
Honestly, I'd like to see a bit more realism. I see so many people having sex...and girls never getting pregnant [yes I have a bit of a pregnancy fetish] but over all, if you're going to build up a pair of characters, perhaps showing them using condoms or other methods of birth control through the story.

I do both. I think some stories are good with realism, but some are simply fantasies and the reader gets annoyed by too much realism.

If you have a pregnancy fetish, read my thread in Pervy for Preggos.

Also, Sex With Consequences hasn't gotten to the point of the consequences of unprotected sex yet (it's still early), but is built around that premise. (Hey, the main character has only gone bareback with two women. There's been no time.)

I had a thread in School of Love that went this route including an abortion. Someone else just branched a thread from where she gets pregnant to finding out who is actually the father (she had a boyfriend other than the protagonist). More perhaps to come.

In one of my stories, I had someone leave a dissappointed comment about dealing with a condom for first-time sex. They just wanted the fantasy.

My biggest complaint as a reader is the inability to sort the stories by content.

My biggest complaint as a writer is thatif you try to submit changes to a thread after your login has expired (which happens fast!) your changes are lost. That's a horrible design.

Yup I've written for Sex with Consequences...as far the the dissappointed comment ah well can't please everyone. Perhaps its just my cry for a little plot instead of all...post after post after post of sex.

I prefer plot myself, though reading a complete fantasy doesn't necessarily bother me. (Even if I find most of the incest stories absolutely hilarious...)

But from a writing standpoint, I tried writing something like that myself when I first got here, since that seemed to be what was preferred, only I got so bored I couldn't make it past two chapters. I've added a few more plot-based chapters to the story 'Abducted' and I'm currently working on a long story of my own in my free time (might post the first chapters soon, but I'd prefer to have a couple of completed paths through it first.)

I'd probably have to say my number one complaint is apathy on the part of the readers. Considering the amount of traffic I'm sure the site gets, there are very few chapters added, most of the stories only have a handful of threads down a very small number of paths, and even the longer ones seem mostly to be written soley by just a couple of dedicated authors, rather than having several contributors all doing their own thing, the way I'd prefer.

I've only posted a handful of chapters myself, so I can't complain about a lack of feedback, but I'm curious if it's common to receive any or not?

To give you my example, here are my statistics.....

Stories I actually CREATED = 5

Threads in total = 119

Total feedbacks = 3 :p

Anyone else want to leave their stats for comparison?

That bad, huh? :(

Well then, I'll just have to make an effort to leave comments on chapters to appeal to me from now on...

Stories I've Created: 9
Total threads (in my stories and others): 563
Total feedbacks: 43

Sometimes I leave feedback, sometimes I don't, but my favorite stories always get feedback.

It was a long time before I got very much, though it's been picking up. Unfortunately the feedback hasn't been very rich in information for improvement -- people who rate 1's, 2's, 3's, and 4's don't seem to leave comments. Out of 66 feedbacks with comment, 65 were 5's and 1 was a 4 with the comment "Very cool." There have been a very few suggestions, and I think I've tried to respond, e.g. "You might want to translate the French."

Here are my statistics:

Stories created: 5

Threads (includes own stories): 396 approved (total 399)

Feedbacks: 66. (They were slow for a long time, but they've picked up in the last year or two. I've noticed I get more ratings and feedback from a popular story like The Neighborhood, or if I've contributed a lot to a particular story or editor.)

Maybe you should copy this as a PM to setic, who says he's the programmer for Chyoo (not routinely the site maintainer), or add it to the Chyoo3 discussion thread in Chyoo Site Feedback.

I have a similiar complaint. I've recently noticed mis-spells in my own writing, & also tried to change number-words to simply the #s. Every time I do that, it either isn't changed when I read it again (talking about days later), or needs to be approved again. (Even after another approval, the changes my not have happened.)

I see I'm not the only one having this problem. I was just fixing to start a thread asking about the same thing. I wrote a chapter for the 'Tau Ceti' story, and then afterwards noticed a couple of typos. I used the 'edit thread' button, and everything seemed to be working fine. I even got the little red message afterwards letting me know it had been edited successfully. But then when I went back to view it again nothing had changed. Tried this several times with the same result.

If you edit a thread, it becomes unapproved (unless you are trusted or better). Until it gets approved, the thread will read as before editing. And you can't reedit until it's approved, either.

I saw this coming. That's precisely why I said, "Even after another approval, the changes may not have happened."

Hmm, perhaps the editor didn't like your changes, or was smoking crack that day, and didn't approve them.

Or perhaps you found a complaint more than 1 person has that you have no reason/answer for.

I feel like I'm on ESPN Classic, & I just won "Stump The Schwab".

No reason to get snotty. I'm just trying to help. Instead of bitching out those who are actually trying to do their jobs, you might consider sending your concerns to setic directly.

I feel like I just stopped at a car accident to help and got shot by the driver.

Have a nice day.

What story did this happen on? I can say that my experience with this has matched exactly what Torg says. Once the edited thread has been approved the changes I made took effect. If you could point out an example of this maybe we could figure out what is going on with it.

This is not a feature I have ever known not to work properly.
