It was supposed to be a “bullet train” that would get people traveling between the Bay Area and LA in about 2 hours. It was approved by voters in 2008 and was supposed to have been completed by 2020 at a cost of $33 billion. Needless to say, that didn’t happen and cost estimates have ballooned to north of $100 billion and the project has been scaled back to a slow train between Bakersfield and Modesto sometime in the 2030s.If I recall, didn't then-California Governor Edmund Gerald "Jerry" Brown, Jr., push something similar like this during his third and fourth terms?
The Trump administration is on the brink of freezing federal funding which will effectively put a stop to the insanity.
