I've had to fly a lot lately (business is all in a mess as the Trumpy trade 'policy' begins to hit, one of the reasons I haven't been online lately) and I don't enjoy it much, but what's this about "need"? Nobody should be lecturing anyone about what they might want to spend their money on!People should stay put.
The times I have to fly it amazes me the people who are flying. They have no real need to go anywhere but they do because air travel is heavily subsidized.

It was supposed to be a ābullet trainā that would get people traveling between the Bay Area and LA in about 2 hours. It was approved by voters in 2008 and was supposed to have been completed by 2020 at a cost of $33 billion. Needless to say, that didnāt happen and cost estimates have ballooned to north of $100 billion and the project has been scaled back to a slow train between Bakersfield and Modesto sometime in the 2030s.
The Trump administration is on the brink of freezing federal funding which will effectively put a stop to the insanity.

Weāve already discussed this. The project under the jurisdiction of California. Trump has never held office in California. The federal government was providing supplemental funding but given the gross incompetence of Californiaās governor(s) and legislature, federal funding is likely to be terminated. California taxpayers can pick of the tab if voters are stupid enough to make that choice.

California HSR has over a dozen stations along the route. With a train passengers can ride only as far as they need to go. To get the same flexibility with planes you need to schedule multiple flights for people to choose between.Basically our HSR goes 2 places. A lot more choices by air, not that I really want to go anywhere.

There will never be high speed rail in this country. Why, you ask? Every train track in the United States is own by the freight train companies. Ask yourself, how comfy does freight have to be?
