Biden Admin Quietly Held Meetings With CCP Members, GOP Senator Says​

The Department of Energy (DOE) quietly held meetings with members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) , according to a letter penned by Republican Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso.

Barrasso alleges in his letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm that DOE officials met with CCP officials or businesspeople at least four times since October 2023. Barrasso characterized the meetings as a possible national security risk given the CCP’s demonstrated desire to co-opt American scientists and intellectual property for their own benefit, also highlighting the fact that DOE did not publicize the meetings — previously reported only by Chinese media outlets — to the American people.

“I have learned that these meetings went beyond mere diplomatic courtesies. In some instances, they served as forums in which the taxpayer-funded research and development of our national labs was offered up for the benefit of Chinese state-owned enterprises and, by extension, the CCP,” Barrasso wrote. “The fact that DOE engaged in such misguided interactions, especially in light of the People’s Republic of China’s persistent and pervasive theft of the United States’ scientific and intellectual assets, is profoundly alarming. The apparent desire to keep these meetings shielded from the American public’s scrutiny, with coverage found exclusively within Chinese media outlets, raises significant concern about DOE’s transparency and broader collaboration with the CCP.”

On October 11, 2023, DOE China Office Director Stephanie Duran met with Sun Ying, the president of a state-owned Chinese construction technology firm, in Beijing, Barrasso alleges in his letter. Duran allegedly offered Sun Ying and her firm, the China Construction Technology Company (CCTC), the support of some of the U.S.’ most advanced national laboratories.

Which just goes to show how powerful right-wing media bias is. The truth is, he has never been the greatest speaker (he has a speech impediment, and even he has called himself "a gaffe factory"), but there is no real evidence at all that he's not all there mentally.

We have unbiased international news reports. He does seem unstable on his feet. Forgets where to exit a stage. Talks gibberish at times and although we understand the words, we don’t understand what he is talking about. But a nice man.

Surely you guys can find better. A younger enthusiastic president.

I'm sure you have your own challenges in your country, where there has been a long history of its own with various "rulers".

Over here, we have survived by placing more emphasis on process than on personality. The President is supposed to be a public service administator, working within a system of checks and balances. Our current administrator is doing a decent job of coordinating under difficult circumstances, whereas his predecessor tried to be a ruler, ignoring his advisors and creating chaos on an hourly basis. We are still recovering from that period of intense crisis.

At some point younger administrators will emerge. Hopefully none of them will embrace the "ruler" mentality.

It's a Republican Right distractive smear campaign to counter the reality of Trump with the largely falsity of the portrayal of Biden. I think he's too old to be running again, and have consistently said that. That doesn't mean he currently is a vegetable who isn't delivering with a comprehensive recovery program from the Trump years.

I detest my country and its rulers. They have totally destroyed the country and that’s why I left.

Yes I am sure the US will emerge better and stronger in years to come. And I sincerely hope they do.

Your analysis is spot on and so is your diagnosis of the problems facing the U.S. Many of us view Biden as the only choice, not because we support him or feel he is up to the task, but mainly, to keep Trump OUT.
