No matter what you ride, if you are fast you can compete with others. I'm thinking of getting carbon for the next bike. We will see. Haven't even started looking so don't know what is out there.

When I was looking for a new helmet, the bike shop salesperson asked, "What color is your bike."

Second, the cushiony seats are actually less comfortable in the long run. Sometimes it takes a lot of tries to find the right saddle. Some bike shops allow you to try it out and return it until you have one your like. I use the lithia gel and find it super comfy. The open part allows the vagina a place to hang out without getting smashed to pieces.

Third, invest in a GOOD pair of cycling shorts. That is one of the most important things to buy in tems of a comfortable ride. I like Sugoi.

As you get acclimated to being in the saddle , you will be sore at first but it does go away. I can ride about 50 miles before I start getting sore.

No, my new bike is good, now I'm just too chicken to go far. Seems like every week neighbors and locals are telling me they saw bears and to be careful.

Turners are nice bikes and the Attack was similar to one of the Turners. There are a lot of XC ski trails to ride around here in summer. And Multi-use trails to ride in winter.

I love these photos, thanks for starting this thread. It reminds me that with everything going on this summer, I've barely gotten out on the Cannondale, which is only further delaying my planned purchase of a proper road bike.
 
I've just taken up cycling properly recently and bought a Specialized CrossTrail, which I really like. I might go for a road bike next time, because I mainly use roads, but the suspension is nice for the crappy cycle paths the UK have alongside better-maintained roads...
