Lately every article I read about violent crime is also linked to people with Bi Polar illness. I think new studies should be in the works to determine just how unstable and dangerous a person with Bi Polar can be and how to help them.

I read the article today about the American man Josh Powell that "may" have killed his wife in 2009, in the end he killed his children and himself the other day in a horrible way.

Bi Polar people are dangerous!

Meh. I bet you the number of people killed by bi-polar people is considerably lower than the ones who die from other health care related things. I don't see any reason to do testing like this that would likely be expensive and fairly constant and refuse to hand out insilin. Not that I'm not all for saving lives just big problems get fixed before small problems.

It's silly to compare murder with any health care related issue, in fact its borderline insane.

Bipolar people can be dangerous, but it is quite literally a physical disease as well as meantal. Those who are bipolar need medication just like any other sick person. The lows they go through can be unbearable.
However, lots of people with lots of different diseases and mental diseases and just fucked-up-ness kill people. I believe instead of starting posts that say bipolar people are dangerous, we need to educate ourselves on the disease and maybe we could even recognize it in friends and family.
However, I do not like the way you wrote and worded your post, especially the end of it. It sounds like hate mongering and that is not cool.

Except this is a health care related issue. Bi-polarism is a disease. Just like Post PArtum Depression is a disease. Sure it's a disease that kills innocent babies instead of sick mothers but that doesn't make it any less of a disease and thus any less of a health care related issue.

As many people as this kills each year the reality is that if we give two shits about debts and deficiets and how our tax dollars get spent it makes no sense to set up the massive system you'd need for this and not do other cheaper things that would benefit more people. It's litterally like having Child Protective Services BEFORE you open a soup kitchen. Sure you can do it but it's insane.

Over 40,000 people die every year from car accidents. let that sink in a minute. No yea buts....

Lets get alarmed about that? Instead of the 10 people that die because of bipolars or the 3 people that died because of a faulty baby crib, or the 200 people that die at Burger King because of food poisoning, and so on and so on....

If we cure Bi Polar Disorder the Democrat Party will wither away to nuthin.

Do you have any idea what I'm talking about you seem to be clueless? Lately I noticed on the news just about every murder, murder suicide etc is always linked with someone that has bipolar.

You're no different than the other guy comparing apples to oranges. I found this about serial killers.

To discover what makes a serial killer function, it is necessary to look back into their past, particularly their adolescent life. By looking at many and varied cases, it is evident that virtually all serial killers come from dysfunctional backgrounds involving sexual or physical abuse, drugs or alcoholism and their related problems. Many traits that seem to be universal in all these serial killers, though in varied amounts, include disorganised thinking, bipolar mood disorders, a feeling of resentment towards society brought on by their own failings, sexual frustrations, an inability to be social or socially accepted, over bearing parents and a wild imagination that tends to drag them into a fantasy world. In a chart of serial killer - childhood development characteristics - created by Ressler, Burgers and Douglas (1990), the three most frequently reported behaviors included day dreaming, compulsive masturbation, and isolation.

I know exactly what you are saying. As it so happens I know a few bipolars and yep, they're odd ducks, no doubt, and yep, yer right, bipolar killers in the news again. So fucking what.

My point is, car wrecks kill people more than bipolars. Lets jack up that before we start jacking with bipolars. And no, its the same. People die, because they don't take enough precautions to drive right or the car is totally messed up, they're fault too. bipolar off their meds, yep like a car wreck waitin to happen.

Thanks for the pounce, btw, makes you look all buff and stuff.

What would you propse as far as getting car accident numbers down? I'm all for sane solutions to getting that number and any number as low as possible.

I'm bipolar and I don't feel like killing people. Myself, yes, but not other people.

Governors on vehicles that match speed limit and acceleration laws, proximity radar alerts ( I think these are coming tho ), to name a couple. I'm sure many people would like a mandatory breathalizer lock, a cell phone on hold switch for when we are driving *shrugs
