I highly recommmend a DVD or VHS Standing in the Shadows of Motown. It's the story of the back-up bands for many of the songs mentioned. Great music and a great story, too.

You could do it the easy way. Do a check for every song James Jamerson played on. That'll pretty much keep you up to your armpits in great Motown classics for weeks.
