Bernie!

Gee BusyBee, As far as I know I've never hurt a soul. In fact, I just scooped up a bumble bee from my basement and brought it outside.

well, SOME believe you are a murderer

therefore you are

right?

Hey, thanks for explaining that to me!

I don't think it's insignificant that Sanders has no ties to the Democratic Party other than caucusing with them during his time in Congress, because it raises the concern that he might mount a third party run if (or really "when") he happens to lose the nomination. And it's hard to see him making the obligatory endorsement of Hillary (unless she goes a whole lot farther to the left than anyone sees happening), because he's not beholden to the party in any way.

I'm not positive of his motive, but I suspect he is aware that running as an independent could cause Hillary to loose the election. I have a feeling he will endorse her when and if she wins the primary.

I wish he would win though!!!

I LOVE BERNIE SANDERS! I'm planning on traveling to Vermont for the kickoff rally.

I know he doesn't have much of a chance but at least people will get a chance to hear his ideas.

Much of a chance? That's fucking funny.

No surprise

He probably won't win. But I doubt winning is the point.

Look at his focus: income inequality, climate change, and finance reform. Hilary is a hawkish populist (though the populist part is definitely up for debate). She likely leans toward big business and foreign government (We'll see how "Clinton Cash" pans out).

I'm not surprised at all that Bernie decided to run. He's going to push her-- which, depending on one's political leanings-- could be good, could be bad. Will be interesting for sure.

She leans toward the people who give her money. At least those are the people for whom she does favors.

I don't think he will; everybody remembers what happened when Nader tried that in 2000.

For all I know, Sanders was one of the people who voted for Nader. Has he ever said? Does he typically vote for Democratic presidential candidates?

I have to assume there's a reason aside from plain orneriness that has kept him from simply saying "I'm a Democrat." Granted he's enough of a brand name in Vermont that he can stay independent with no risk, but it's a little different when you go national and run for a Democratic nomination.

I'm not predicting he would actually go the third party route. In fact, I'm not sure Sanders really wants to be president, given that he's 73. I assume he's running mostly to make sure the issues he cares about get a good airing. But let's say he gets a following, lands a Time cover (if Herman Cain could do it, anyone can), becomes a folk hero of sorts, even wins a primary or two. He wouldn't be the first person to not want the ego boost to end.

If you are excited by Bernie announcing, take a minute and drink to the memory of Paul Wellstone. I wish he had lived to try a run.

I'd advise Bernie to fly commercial or stay on trains until the convention.

Wouldn't want to encourage him to endanger the general public that way . . .

Not saying anything against HRC. If Wellstone died by foul play, no Democrat was involved.

Windfall at Bernie's: Sanders raises $1.5 million in 24 hours

$40.00 at a time. The man of the people! :)

The self-described socialist aimed his fiercest fire at the influence of much bigger money.

“For the last 30 years I’ve been standing up for the working families of this country,” he said, “and I think I’m the only candidate who’s prepared to take on the billionaire class which now controls our economy and increasingly controls the political life of this country.

“We need a political revolution in this country involving millions of people who are prepared to stand up and say enough is enough, and I want to lead that.”

Asked by host George Stephanopoulos to comment on continuing controversy over foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation and their alleged influence over decisions made by the former secretary of state while in office, Sanders said: “It’s not just the Clinton Foundation.

“Here are my concerns … and it should be the concern of every American. Can somebody who is not a billionaire, who stands for working families, actually win an election into which billionaires are pouring millions of dollars?”

Naming prominent and controversial rightwing donors, he said: “It is not just Hillary, it is the Koch brothers, it is Sheldon Adelson.”

He adds:
“Nobody thought that I would be elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont. Very few people thought I would beat an incumbent Republican to become a United States congressman for Vermont by 16 points. And people weren’t so sure I could beat the richest person in Vermont to become a United States senator.

“So I would say, ‘Don’t underestimate me.’”

"Heads will Explode!" :D
