If you’re confused about the Saudi Arabia-led air attacks against Islamist rebels in Yemen and can’t tell one group of head-choppers in Iraq and Syria from another, don’t despair. All you need is imagination.

Close your eyes and imagine that those countries and terrorists have nuclear weapons. Imagine their barbarism going nuclear as they blow up cities, wipe out ethnic and religious groups and turn the region into cinders.

Now open your eyes and realize you’ve seen the future, thanks to President Obama’s policies. It is a future that will be defined by Obama’s Wars. Yes, plural.
I’ve written frequently about the likelihood of a dystopian “Mad Max” scenario if Iran gets nukes. My thinking is guided by a belief among American military and intelligence officials that a nuclear exchange would take place in the Mideast within five years of Iran getting the bomb. To judge from events, the future is arriving ahead of schedule.


Israel, of course, sees the pattern as insane and a threat because Iran has threatened to wipe it off the face of the earth. In retaliation for complaining about the nuke deal, Obama denounces our ally and threatens to “re-evaluate” our support for the Jewish state.

But Israel is not alone, with our Sunni Arab allies also viewing Iran as their mortal enemy. Sen. John McCain quoted one of those Arab leaders as concluding, “We believe it is more dangerous to be a friend of America’s than an enemy.”

I won't.

I can't support her for President any more than I can support a far right Republican. If it comes down to her as the lesser of two evils I'll leave the President spot blank on my ballot.

Yeah, it really depresses me that, at this point, the person likely to hold up the populist liberal banner of the Party/traditional Democratic values against the corporate whores of the Clinton and Obama administrations is Martin Fucking O'Malley.

The hope there is that, unlike Obama, he actually has an extensive record as a policymaker, so it won't be as easy for him to mislead the primary voters about who he really is in that area.

On the other hand, the Obama years kind of prove most Democratic primary voters are Yellow Dogs who don't really think through things and just focus on who the corporate media tells them actually has a shot at winning.

Maybe the opposing campaigns should just air ads targeted at young people reminding them that the mayor in the later seasons of The Wire is pretty much a very lightly fictionalized version of O'Malley.

Actually, while I agree with your general sentiment here, this particular point is untrue. America's traditional economic elite--who unsuccessfully tried to stage a violent coup when it became clear Roosevelt was going to be a "class traitor"--were benefactors of the Nazi regime. For example, William Randolph Hearst, who basically controlled the state of the national conversation in America during his lifetime, was a personal friend of Hitler's to the point that he was seated next to Hitler at the Olympiad Germany hosted during hitler's rule.

But it is genuinely disgusting that Israel has been using that event in world history to excuse the fact that is an apartheid state whose treatment of 'undesirables' isn't that far removed from the Nazis for most of its history. They are the state equivalent of a guy whose father beat him and uses that as an excuse for beating his wife and kids on a daily basis.
