Who has em? How long is this damn thing going to hurt for? It gets better, and then for some inexplicable reason gets all inflamed and starts hurting like a bitch all over again. It's killing me today - I have a chest cold, and every time I cough it seems to pull my belly button and hurts.

Yes, I'm whining! :)

I've had mine since March and I get a bad day here and there usually from wearing jeans that are a little too tight. Anything with an elastic waist is a killer! I don't find that mine irritates me when I'm sick at all.

I've had mine pierced twice, but I had to take it out because it started to grow out.

If you have any sort of viral infection, it might affect your piercing as well.

It might feel fine one day, and then if it got tugged while you were sleeping or rubbed against your clothes wrong, it could get sore. That's one thing I hated about my belly button piercing.

March? Oh that gives me a lot to look forward to.

You know, women are idiots. Why do we do this shit to ourselves just to look good?

And no sex on your stomach - I've found that one out the hard way already.

Oh, you'll be able to in due time. Just have some patience, hon.

By the way, why's you take down the av of you in the little fuzzy-looking top and shorts? You know ,the one where your nipples showed through? That was one damn sexy av!

I hope so - I miss that position.

That AV? Thanks. I change them quite often - I have a short attention span when it comes to those. I'll probably put it back soon though.

SS - neither do I. Maybe that's the trouble too.

I've had my belly double peiced (top and bottom) for almost 6 years. I've never worn short shirts or anything like that, i've never tried to show it off. Peircings just make some people feel good, i think. and the pain will go away. Bellybuttons take about 1 yr to heal, if you're as slow of a healer as me. just use sea salt baths and satin soap (found in health food stores). And get more PEIRCEINGS!!!!!

Umm...I don't know if i should really respond to this, since i have no belly button ring. BUT..i will anyways cause it's a slow ass night and i'm just getting home.

Belly Button rings are SOOO SEXXXY on woman as far as I’m concerned. But then again, I'm a belly button kinda guy. I like to suck on them and lick them and just be there..feeling the motion of the stomach rise and fall as the breath goes in and out of the body. I love belly buttons, I love belly button rings.

I will AGREE WITH THIS!!! I just got the tongue done and damn it...I am so in for more!! Just need the finances to back up my next one. So hopefully after Christmas I'll get another one. I didn't do the piercing for anyone else but myself. It just felt so good..umm..just read my blurt.

Anyways, just my humble thoughts on the topic at 3am on a sat. morning.

Hope you start to feel good Freya..colds suck!

Your friend,
- Stephen

It does look sexy, but...ummm...OUCH!

I had mine done nearly a year ago. I remember the same thing, some days it would be fine, other days sore and inflamed. I used Bactine several times a day at first and kept my pants loose. They do seem to heal slowly. I was told it could take up to a year, although mine didn't take that long.

Mine is 18 months old. Put Vitamin E OINTMENT on it as often as you can. Make sure that you keep it clean. If you wear a pair of pants that hits at the bellybutton, then wear a bandaid. It takes a bit longer than the six weeks that an ear piercing would take. Oh, and remember to turn turn turn the little ring!

Thanks guys - I thought this thread had died.

I have been wearing pants that don't hit the waist, which severely limits my wardrobe I tell you. And using antibacterial soap and polysporin on it when it gets like this. It feels better today so hopefully the infection, or whatever it was, is gone now.

Athena, I doubt I'll get more piercings. I don't have anywhere else on my body that I'd like done.

I am semi-seriously debating about a nipple one.

But I doubt that I will do it. I am going to get my tattoo added on to.

I'd prefer another tat over another piercing myself. I have one in mind that I'd like - now to get the money and pick a spot for it.

I really like the little heart one that Ozzy's daughter got on her birthday. It was a tiny heart just above her bikini line. I am thinking about that or just adding one to my existing ankle one.

I really like the celtic stuff. The one I have is a celtic knot in a design on my ankle, and I've found another that's a heart with a celtic design as well. I'm thinking lower back, on the right side.

I, like S.D., also dont have any piercings, cause, well, i'm a guy, obviously, but i think body piercings and tatoos on women is such a gorgeous, sexy thing...just something about it. The belly button piercing, eyebrow, tounge, hell, ANYTHING gets me going...and tatoos...oh boy. On the small of the back, on the ankle, or the back of the shoulder....so incredibly sexy. its a fetish of mine i guess. If i could, i'd give all you ladies a big hug and kiss....cause to me, its just the sexiest thing in the world....:rose:

as some have already said, it takes 6 months to a year to compleatly heal. if you have a ring in it, i would suggest geting a curved barbell. less likely to get it snaged on things. an you may think im crazy for saying this but, listerine works great on pierceings, (not mint flavor) yes it burns/stings a lil but it will work.

an S.Daedalus those surface to surface pierceings are cool. but i haven't seen many stay. they tend to grow out and are a bitch to heal.
i once met a guy that had the back of his neck pierced with a barbell, then had a dragonfly tattooed around it. had the balls of the barbell as the eyes of the dragonfly, turned out badass too.

(couldnt help but to post in this thread, god i love ink an pierceings)

Hi Freya.. I'm a piercing freak here, so 'scuse my ramblings.. but only use the Polysporin/Neosporin if the piercing is oozing, if it's not infected and you're using it anyways, you're gonna make the medicine think the piercing is a "wound" and "heal" itself.. you don't want that. Trust me.

I would actually recommend saline/ sea salt water soaks. You can buy it at most piercing shops, or even ask your doctor, do it once or twice a day for 15 minutes. Just wet down a washcloth and hold it on the piercing.

Washing once a day with antibacterial soap is good, and all it really needs.

I think my bellybutton healed within 6 months, but it only got irritated when shirts and pants rubbed up against it. A loose bandaid would help that, as someone already suggested.

:)

Have fun with the piercing, I've had mine for like 5 years and will prob never get rid of it.

Thanks Lickerish. I love mine, and I guess I'm just impatient. I want it to heal so I can change the ring for the nifty one my friend bought me in Catalina. Most days it's good, although the area around it is always red - is that normal?

It just really hurt the last 2 days, and everytime I moved it would pull it a bit and hurt more. Seems to be ok today though.

That's pretty normal, intially.. just wash it with the soap and it should be fine. If it starts oozing around the corners, use poly/neosporin. Itchyness is normal too, just so you know, I don't know if you're experiencing that?? I would recommend the saline soak.. I just looked and the bottle she gave me says "sterile 0.9% sodium chloride for irrigation, USP" looks hospital issued. I used it for my hood piercing and I swear it healed within days. Might help the bellybutton too?

I changed my ring within a few months, just take it to the/a piercer to do it the first few times. :) What does the new ring look like?
