Sometimes I just don't understand women.

One of my good guy friends (an old roommate of my boyfriend's) just got a call from his ex-girlfriend. She's pregnant. As far as my friend knew, she was on birth control...he even watched her take the pills. Turns out, she was taking the blank pills in the end of the package (the ones that contain no hormones, they're only there to keep you in the habit of taking them). She did it because she suspected that he was going to break up with her and she wanted to seal the deal. She practically admitted it.

What a fucking selfish bitch! Okay, I'm a woman. I understand being scared and heartbroken and maybe even a little desperate to keep a guy around. But what the hell?! She's like 20 years old and he's barely 21! I hear women complaining all the time about how psycho men can be, and yes, some are completely fucking nuts when it comes to being "in love" but women are just as bad, if not worse in some cases.

Sorry for the rant, but I figure you men always screaming about man haters would appreciate it. And it's true.

For the sake of the child and for his own sake he should not marry her, or stay with her or anything like that.

Pay support, yeah. Be in the child's life, sure. But being in the same household with a psycho bitch like that is a mistake and never works out.

This is why if I get involved with anyone again (yeah, right, like that's gonna happen - who am I fooling? ) I am going to get myself fixed whether they are on birth control, sterile, whatever. It would just be better for everybody concerned.

Reminds me of a friend of mine. During the going away party for him when he was joining the navy (he was 19) his 16 year old girlfriend told him she was pregnant in an attempt to get him to stay. He couldn't of course, and she later confessed to making it up. But he nearly had a nervous breakdown right then and there.

I agree, he has to take responsibility because he didn't do anything to prevent it. But it's still unfair because she made him presume that she was taking all the responsibility. I'm the same way. I take care of myself with my birth control and he doesn't hear much about it. I think a lot of relationships are that way.

she didn't make him do anything - he was lazy and probably goes along with the whole "if I wear a condom I can't feel anything" bullshit line of thinking.

Yeah, she fooled him by pretending to take her pills when she wasn't, but he's the bigger fool for not protecting himself.

What's unfair isn't to him or to her, but to their child. Sure it sucks that he now has this responsibility that he wasn't wanting at this stage in his life, but that's what happens when you don't take the responsibility in making sure that it doesn't happen. A wise man once told me - "Never have sex with someone that you may not wish to ever marry, or to be a part of your life forever". It's sound.

The only time I would take care of the birthcontrol, and not use condoms in conjunction, would be if we were married - or in a very stable relationship for a long period of time. Other than that, we're going to double bag the situation.
