This is such an embarrassing question! But with fall on its way, and little to no work hours plus hopefully taking some college classes, I was starting to consider the idea of applying to be a cam model. I'm having trouble doing proper research, so that if I do decide to apply, I would be applying to the best one that I can. Which is where you guys come in.

Do any of you have any idea which would be best? I've read the information to a few, about money and such, but most of it just goes over my head and I'd really appreciate the help.

It's hard to tell you which one would be the best one for you if we don't know the details that are offered with each position.

We need more information. Thanks. :D

A cam model? As in a girl who models for photographs and such?

I'm wondering what you read because I did a quick search and found out everything you need to know. Well besides the setting up of the webcam, you get assigned someone to help with that. At least the site I went to assigns someone to help you set up.

Anyway, the basic premise is you do what you are told and you make money for every minute at least one person watches you. The trick to this is getting people to sit there and watch you do whatever for as long as possible. The site claimed that it doesn't matter what you look like you can get people watching and make money. It said 80 cents per minute for every person watching you on the everybody watches. $1 per minute for private sessions, which you know dang that sounds pretty good paying, but you do have to get naked and do what perverts tell you to do.

Basically, you can rate the sites with the following criterias:
- visitors vs. paying visitors
- competition
- share
- price

There is no perfect match.

For example, ********** will offer a reasonable visitors vs. paying visitors ratio and a fair share, but the competition is fucking high. This means you need plenty of regulars to survive and something unique you can sell. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners therefore - although the very first step would be to register with all sites anyway, just to secure your username if you should later expand.

You can send me a PM if you are interested in more information, it's a bit difficult here to write about the sites, with the Lit spam bot censoring the text.

You don't have to go all the way to cam if you're uncomfortable. Try niteflirt for just phone sex. They have cam listings without the group thing that happens on cam sites.

Hi. I'm very curious about this topic. I recently lost my job due to the bad economy and this would be an interesting way to pay the bills.

Can you tell me some of the sites where you can do this and/or where I can find information about how to do this?

Thanks.

Well, as a lapsed chatter and chat site admin who has spent 9 years with a model, here's some advice.

Posting links is probably out of the question, since Lit has its own cam site affiliation. That's a direct conflict of interest, so I won't do it. You might consider visiting rooms where the models are chatty and carefully broach the subject. If she seems offended or irritated in any way, back off. If you find one willing to talk, you can learn a lot more from someone actually working the cam than in any other way.

First off, if you're depending upon it as your primary income source, then you're going to be in trouble. You need to be happy and smiling to score the private minutes that bring you the money.

There are going to be rotten days -- sometimes many of them. When you have those bad days with only deadbeats and beggars, it's going to bring you down. It's a snowball effect that can be devastating if your rent and food money is coming from working the cam.

Trust me when I tell you that it's not as easy as you may assume to "buck up" and put on a smile. I don't recommend doing this as your primary source of income.

I think that considerations for where the future may take you should go without saying. Once you're out there on the internet naked, it's forever. People save pics and videos all the time. You could be anywhere and everywhere. Think about the possibility of relatives and children stumbling across you stark naked with a vibe buried inside you. Think about that job you might end up with some day, and whether this could be a career issue.

That being said, if you just have an exhibitionist streak, and would like to have some folding money to pamper yourself, it may very well be a way to go about it.

First, you need to know the rules of the site. That includes what you can and can't do. Cam sites are packed to the walls with lawyers looking after the interests of the company. Just because someone wants you to fist yourself and you can do it doesn't mean you can do it on cam. Can you have other people on cam with you? Can the other person penetrate you in any way? You need to know the restrictions, and abide by them. They're all different.

If you can't chat with the room, you'd better have a body so mesmerizing that men walk into walls and fall off curbs every time you step out onto the street. Even if you do have that going for you, you'll make a lot more money if you can chat the guys up.

Many of your potential customers are lonely and insecure. If you can chat them up and build something resembling friendship, you're going to push them over the edge into spending the cash. As with any other thing in life, you'll do your best at this when you're genuine. The more you are yourself, the more fish you're going to reel in. The more you genuinely enjoy chatting with the few good guys in the room, the more people will see it, and the more will come for some private time.

Talk to the people in the room -- even if you're on a free preview chat that's not making you a dime. The spenders are lurking out there, I asssure you. They're checking out the merchandise, and you have to sell them. Tease a bit on your own terms while you're doing it. A nip slip, a bit of camel toe, and some dancing can go a long way when you're keeping up with the conversation.

Just don't believe every drooler who claims to be ready to buy. Be polite, but don't start doing requests for free. Most of these guys are just looking for freebies. Our old mantra in chat was "Beggars never buy, and buyers never beg"

Once again going back to rules: Make sure you know the site's rules about communicating with your customers, and the resources they have to do so. Building an off-cam rapport is what drums up repeats. Do they provide a page where you can upload pics? A forum? Email? A safe means for customers to send you gifts, like new outfits?

Again back to the warnings: Protect your identity, and especially your location as you're communicating. Stalkers are out there, and they have eyes like hawks. They'll pick up tiny little tidbits that you think are innocent, narrowing down your position, and waiting for the moment when you give them something specific enough that they can use to track you down from the profile they've built.

Be prepared.

First and foremost, you're going to need plenty of sexy clothing. That doesn't necessarily mean bras, panties, and corsets, though having plenty of such is a good idea. Sexy jeans, halter tops, short-shorts and the like can also be an asset. New outfits keeps it fresh. If you come out in the same two or three matching bra and panty sets every day, it gets monotonous. Even something so simple ( and cheap ) as a gauzy curtain can be good.

Have toys. Get yourself a variety of dildoes and vibes. Handcuffs, whips, and candles are an option, if you're into that. Balloons. Yes, there are a lot of people out there into that. More than you'd ever expect. Keep a pack around. They're cheap. Whipped cream. Baby oil. Feather fans.

You get the picture.

Be up front about what you'll do. Don't do anal? Make sure you don't give the impression that you do. Maybe you do, but only with small vibes. Make sure that's clear. Not into girl/girl? Don't try to fake interest unless you have some hella acting skills. Getting someone into private with false impressions can turn ugly, fast. Of course, not everybody will pay attention, so try to be polite if someone comes into private chat with misconceptions.

Let yourself go. If you actually enjoy this, don't be afraid to come, and come hard. They want to see you red-faced and making those orgasm faces, no matter how ridiculous it might look to you.

Innovate. Can you move your cam setup for bath/shower shows? Do it, and let people know that you will. Live in the boondocks and can sneak out into the back yard naked? Broadcast it.

Just a few random things off the top of my head.

I've had luck with **********- I've made over $200 an hour, but then again, some days I wouldn't make much at all. It's all about generating a customer base- so you have to keep your work schedule steady.

PM me if you want any help- I've been working with them for a couple years, they're my favorite out of the bunch- and they do all the advertising for you. It is actually pretty hard work, though- but, the guys (or gals, most of mine were guys) will send you presents and shit to- I got almost all my sex toys that way! Got some cosplay shit- it was really fun.

Wow. This thread is very informative. I have had an interest in doing phone sex for money for some time but had no idea where to start....or if other "normal" girls would ever really consider doing this. Id be interesting in talking a bit with a woman with experience.....pm me.
:rose:

I can confirm the gifts as well. My Baileykins got everything from leather corsets to chain mail bikinis, rabbit vibes to glass dildoes, and jewelry of every shape, size, and color.

Once you build up a base, your budget for clothes and accessories can drop dramatically. As candicame indicated, you need to work regularly -- even though the suck days. You may need to go on outside your regular schedule to accomodate your regulars as well. They're your bread and butter, so you need to take care of them.

You don't have to be a supermodel, either. There are a lot of guys out there who actually prefer a woman who's more down to earth -- relatable and obtainable. Bails had a six hour show once where the guy just sat and talked to her while she was naked. She only ended up doing other things in the last fifteen minutes or so, and that was only because she teased and tempted him mercilessly to get him over a nervous hump to ask for it.

Just be aware that chat is filled with beggars, plain stupid people, and vicious assholes as well. Be prepared to deal with that, and hope that you have a few of the good guys in the room to ride to your defense.

OP, I would love to know how this is working out for you, if in fact you decide to become your own small business. ;).

Girlfriend does cam girl stuff. She's a "milf". It's long hours (10 or so a day). Weekends are best (fri-sat-sun) but you'll be sore (pussy), tired, & guys know if you're faking orgasms. Now, she squirts and makes up to $300 a day. If ya have sex appeal, love to flirt, roleplay and are attractive (big boobs too) and like being nude all the time, you can do it. You need a good light, sexy clothes, good cam & good computer. Record your cam videos and sell them too.

I'm gonna second that. Record- because a lot of sites will pay you per download as well. There's actually a program you can get called "manycam" that will let you do this.

Can a guy get in on this action? Not much I won't do on a cam!
