Don't get sucked through the Toilet Bowl if at Hanauma Bay. Tourist trap.

i was there.......hmmmm, 26 years ago........too many people.......

there's a damn fine plate lunch stand the just down the road (counterclockwise on the island), though.......

Yeah, I've had a couple friends who went, and I'm waiting on some emails about all that. Like I said, at this point, it's just conceptual.

I can think of one "over-winter" person that we both might know. He did a great job keeping a blog going while he was training and travelling and working down there.

IIRC, it took him several years to make it onto the winter-over list.

Going towards Waikiki? I found better the other way. Darn, driving from Waikiki and going past Hanauma to the North Shore makes me gain 3-5 lbs. The food is great. :D

Howdy, Shy. Nice to see you around again. I think I know who you're talking about.

Mrs Perg and I have talked about going to work in Antarctica for six months when I'm done with the undergrad stuff and have a year off before med school.

FYI, from my e-mail - looks like a grunt labor position down south

"Dear Colleagues:

WAIS Divide is a United States deep ice coring project in West Antarctica funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and is the second component to the larger WAISCORES initiative. The purpose of the WAIS Divide project is to collect a deep ice core from the flow divide in central West Antarctica in order to develop a unique series of interrelated climate, ice dynamics, and biologic records focused on understanding interactions among global earth systems.

The Science Coordination Office is seeking applicants for science technicians to help in the drilling and ice core recovery process from November, 2007 through January, 2008. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity please visit the "WAIS Divide Ice Core Project Employment Opportunity" ad at:

Please pass this on to anyone you might think is interested. Sorry for any cross postings."

One of them is all Vetteman and 1HotBabe's fault.

This one is the coolest thread on the board.

Sean has me on iggy - he figured I was an alt a long time ago (wodner who the heck he thinks I was?), but I'll tell you.

I stomped my project last night!!!

I think my inner monkey has come out. Seem to have gotten over my little panic attacks I've been having the last two weeks - yaay!!! I learned how to hip-check the wall and am pivoting a little - without even thinking about it!

Today I am sore and I have two huge brusises on my knees, but I feel great about it.

Hey Perg. Handslap Thor on the shoulder. He started a thread for fishing, so I don't have to infiltrate your thread with fishing. :D

That's awesome! It's fun to experience those epiphanies, when the theory actually happens on the wall.

You're making me think seriously about making use of the bouldering gym at my school.

Sean thinks everyone is an alt. It's a sort of obsession of his.

Oh, yeah, I meant to do that.

You still have to stop by here, though.

Agreed.

I adore this thread.

You guys, it is amazing the feats he has done.

Thor, just trying to get me to Alaska. No need to twist my arm, hun.

Perg, I thought of you, as he was talking about exactly what you were saying about wet clothes in the snow. He said you lose 25% more body heat with wet clothes. He stripped naked in the snow and proceeded to rub snow on his body. He said that doing that actually makes you become dry faster. I was thinking, huh? He rubbed snow in his hair and then waited before putting on dry clothes.

Babygrrl, the indoor climbing is going well? I really liked indoor climbing and strengthens so many muscles. I hope the little man does awesome tonight.

Hiya, BeBe!

*edit* Hey there, Vette.
