This song is now being played almost constantly in my area. If you have heard this song being played lately then I have a question for you.

Do you think it is an anti-drug message? Many people in my area believe it to be yet there are those that say it is to make fun of anti-drug campaigns?

What do you think if anything at all?


It is a catchy little song though.

My kids think it is hilarious. They are 12 and 14 and all they can say during each verse is how stupid getting high makes you.

So, to them, it points out all the dumb things that happen to you when you get high.

That is a syndrome ya know.

You're supposed to go with it so you don't panic, but don't get sucked into any major art/redecorating jobs that you just came up with while stoned, unless you have a good sized head stash or your going to loose interest and never finish.

The song is played non stop in these parts, and while I like it (I think it's funny), I also think it does list the cons of "gettin high".

While I think that no drug is a good drug (I even shun 'scrips'), a song about drugs (ie: 'Because I got High') does portray what not to do.

The song isn't an anti-drug song. The artist, Afroman (AKA: Joseph Foreman) was interviewed by Time in last weeks' magazine. In it he said, "I made this for all my homeboys...I just figured, since I'm a pothead, why can't me and the other potheads have a little joke to ourselves." Though its funny, and can be used as an anti-drug song, it is in fact an ode to Mary Jane!

Also never been drunk (but I've had alcohol) and I've never done alot of things. I'm really boring!

Want an anti-drug message? Read Go Ask Alice, when I was in high school (and was thinking about trying drugs sometime because "all my (stupid) friends were doing it") that book made me never even think about doing drugs ever, at all!

NO it doesn't make you weird...it makes you alot smarter and together than some of the rest of us...76-84 is a complete blur to me...i did it ALL...and have nothing to show for that time...Some people can have a drink or a doobie now and then..no harm no foul...For some it's a problem from the word go...Problem here is that there is no way to predict who is who...It's a individual choice. Only you can decide what is right for you.
