Your opinion is sensible enough and that's all I was soliciting. It certainly does in some ways sustain your point about government involvement. I've found it very strange that they built this up for so long, such a windup, to issue THIS policy. Other adminstrations simply announced their positions and that was that. I decidedly feel that a lot of people were intentionally wound up over this, and I'm confounded as to why Bush and his advisors would have wanted to have so much attention for it. Why do YOU think they did it this way?

This is only an issue because the government is involved. Doesn't that sound familiar?

By subsidizing the research the government has created a problem out of thin air. It's very similar to the uproar of federal funding of abortion. Taxpayers have a right to be upset when the government spends their money on issues they are opposed to on moral or religious grounds.

Geron does much of its research in Scotland, backed by very generous UK and Scottish funding. Dr. Roger Pederson of UC-SF is packing to move to London; he's one of this country's leading researchers and his metaphor suggests that W's pose is like JFK calling for the Moon Project, on condition that we only deploy old rocket ships. If the thing works out in, the profits will acrue to those nations and institutions clever enough to try to solve problems when the solutions were at hand.

Well of course you would, except you can't. Only conservative Christians have that right (Christian opponents of the death penalty have to pay for executions, don't they?), and generally only under ass-licking Republican Administrations.

Lavy, nothing you posted yet disagrees with the articles I posted earlier (in response to postings by people which had incorrect information in them.)

The "60 lines" issue was explained already. Thompson is from my home state- he was our Govenor for years. I don't know him to be a liar, quite the opposite.

Well as I read the constitution, the Federal government is specificaly enjoined to raise armies for the defence of the republic. I don't see medical resurch even mentioned in the document.

But of course you have the RIGHT to object to the Government using money on an Army. You just don't have a leg to stand on if you want to raise a consitutional agrument against an Army.
