Beat a breathalyzer...with peanut butter?

Also, if there is a suspicion that the breathalyser has been spoofed, a blood sample can be demanded.

Most definitely. I've seen people taken to the hospital to get blood because they could not provide a breath sample.

I was interested in seeing what sort of gut / quick-to-judge reaction I'd get. It's the sort of subject that generates a lot of responses. And it's a slow night.

I do more designated driving than I should. Ironically, the world is not kind to the designated driver. I've had waitresses sneer at me when they found out I wouldn't be ordering beer.

Yeah, I've been there too.

I don't see why though. The profit margin on what bars charge for pop is astronomical.

A guy I used to know who got busted once for DUI told me that he took a breathalyzer but for some reason (I can't remember what he said it was) he ended up having to give a blood sample too and the breathalyzer reading was lower. Can't testify to how true that is since obviously he's a man of low moral character.

Not sure why a waitress would care. I can't imagine it affects her tips too much.

If he had been in a car accident, they would have taken blood at the hospital. Then, if he had been treated and released, he could have been given a breath test up to...I believe...two hours after the original contact. That would have made the test lower.

Also, as I recall, blood tests tend to be more accurate since the alcohol doesn't have to pass from the blood to the lungs and be exhaled. That dilutes it a little bit, from what I understand.

A good number of bars have a policy for designated drivers which entitles them to at least one free non-alcoholic beverage.

As to the waitress, there's a fair contingent of people out there who think that someone who can't down a drink or two and just drive home are wusses and prudes.

Proper service of a free drink would prompt me to stay and purchase possibly several more (with accomanying tips).

As to the others, I hope that at the very least they are caught. The other acceptable outcome would be for them to hit something very solid and not living before they kill another person.

I figure if pepper can fool drug dogs it will probably work on breathalyzers. So if you've been drinking and are pulled over, keep a big old bottle of pepper nearby. Unscrew the cap and toss it down. I'm not sure what will happen, but I hope the video shows up on youtube.
roflmao!! Indeed.

I heard an urban legend that suggests a man blew a 43% on a breathalyzer because he gargled Scope upon being pulled over. Not sure if he got busted or not.

I guess nobody saw the Mythbusters episode about beating the devices? lol

Everyone failed. Also, the cheap-o pocket version to "test" yourself were not all that accurate.

Most US States these days require a person to submit to a BAC of one kind or another if requested to do so by a Law Enforcement officer. Some states, you can request a blood test instead of a breathalyzer as well.

Perhaps those who spread stories about how to beat them actually encourage the design of better breathalyzers, as opposed to keeping it a secret "within circles". Think further.

So, any experiences?
OMG How stupid are you really??
