Beach Side Lofts

Vivi blushed slapping Brodie playfully on his shoulders as she fidited in front of him. "We should head out before it gets late." She said softly looking off to the side, she couldn't help it he just turned out so; fine. She didnt' wear perfume and simply used lavender baby oil which at the moment was wafting through the air at her every movement.

He shot her a smirk and nodded. "Alright, I called a taxi awile ago, not a very long drive though...15 to twenty minutes down the beachfront..." He turned toward the door and gave a light sigh, his eyes fluttering at the intoxicating scent of hers that invaded his senses. Brodie opened the door and let her walk out first, sliding his hands into his pockets and walked next to her. His eyes flicked to the side and down at her and he gave a small smile.

"I umm..I like how your hair is done V...it looks very nice."

Vivi chuckled lightly, "Ah its nothing, I just tossed it up. The wind can be so unforgiving at night so I didn't want to have to wrestle with my hair." She explained though the complement was taken well, he was very nice.

They went to the lobby to await the taxi and sat in the sofas provided. The conversation provided was rather comical as the two laughed on an off drawing attention from others that passed by. Eventually the taxi honked announcing its arrival to which the two made their exit to leave.

Sitting in the back seat of the taxi, Vivi was much calmer now and leaned her head against Brodie's shoulder. "Thanks." she said, "For taking me out, I really needed a change of pace." she said already the night beginning and she felt the stress lift from her shoulders.

As she pressed against him he tensed momentarily but quickly relaxed back into the seat, smiling down at her.

"Well its my pleasure to...by the way I hope you like sushi cause that's what we're having tonight. Small joint on the beachfront, low-key but good food..." He reached up and raised his arm, putting it over her shoulder. His throat swelled alittle as it wasnt sure how she would take it.

She looked up a bit excitedly. "Ah, I love sushi...well not sushi but sushi joints. They have gyoza and yakisoba, an udon...mmm. I love udon." she said rambling and then slapped a hand over her mouth to silence herself. "I'm sorry." she said softly looking down, his hand over her shoulder hardly even noticeable at her current embarassment.

"Hehehe..." He loosened up again and chuckled, shaking his head. "Dont worry about it, Im pretty enthusiastic about food aswell." He nudged her playfully and grinned, his gaze though flicking up past the driver.

"Speak of the devil, just about there..."

She smiled up at him feeling a little better now that she hadn't made a fool of herself. "Do they have karaoke there?" She asked brushing up against him softly.

His brow perked up and he brushed his thumb agaisnt her shoulder, giving a smirk. Now that was interesting, he didnt figure her for the karaoke type.

"As a matter of fact...yes they do..." He gave her a bright grin and laughed, the taxi slowly comming to a stop outside the entrance of the restaraunt. Brodie smiled and got out, quickly wrapping around the back of the car and opened her door for her.

Vivi smiled taking her hand into his as she got out the taxi. Brodie paid for the fare and then slipping a hand on the small of her back guiding her inside. The continued in and was seated by a waitress, and given menus. Vivi looked over the menu already excited about what she would order.

The joint was fairly small but had a nice atmosphere on the inside of it. Behind the bar a pair of chefs were bussy making sushi with abit of a performance. It had been acouple months since he had eaten here but it was a nice place. The waiter brought out a small bowl of miso soup for the both of them to start them both off before asking for orders.

"Uhh yeah...Ill have a bowl of steamed rice and three pieces of toro, three california rolls, three pieces of sake, and three unagi...oh and please bring a bottle of warm sake for the both of us..." he smiled and looked over to Vivi.

"I'll have a bowl of udon, some yakisoba, five california rolls and so gyoza...oh and a basket of tempra." she said meekly, she wasn't a light eater. She smiled to Brodie across the way looking down shyly. "I hope that isn't too much. I can pay for it msyelf it it helps."

Brodie raised his brow as she listed off all the orders and chuckled, tilting his head abit and smiling at her.

"No, no, no! Don't worry about it. Actually...heh, it's actually kind of nice being with a woman who has a healthy apetite..." He scratched his cheek and took a sip of his soup, looking over as the waiter brought over their sake and a pair of wooden, square cups.

"Ah, here we are..." He nodded to the waiter and he reached out, pouring a cup for each of them and held his up.

"Hmm...I think a toast is in order...too..." He looked up for a second, musing.

Vivi smiled shying away for a moment before she took hold of the sake glass being poured a serving. "Alright then...but I have no clue what you want me to toast too." she said, there were a million topics but none of them fit the current situation.

"Uh..." she sat confused and then looked to Brodie hopefully. "You make a toast."

"Hah, and here I thought Id be able to put you on the spot..." Brodie cocked his head back and laughed, looking back down and shaking his head. His eye shot back up to her, followed by a smirk.

"Let's keep it simple then...how about to...a still blooming friendship...that I cherish everyday for being in." He tilted his head and raised his square, wooden cup up closer to her.

"How was that?"

Vivi chuckled lightly bringing her cup to his in toast, "Yes that's great. To friendship!" she cheered, then tipped back her sake. It went down smoothly although a bit tangy and hot but she liked the feel as it warmed her belly.

"Now to bring on the food. I'm famished."

"Banzai!" He shouted laughing, clicking the edge of her cup with his before slamming it back.

"Ah, that's good...you must be a psychic or something..." He smirked and looked right over to the waiter bringing their orders over to them, sitting them down in front of them both. Though he had to go back a second trip for Vivi's large order. Brodie looked over to her and chuckled grinning.

"You need to teach me how to mention something and then have it happen instantaneously." He said smiling over at her.

Vivi smiled as her food was brought to her and quickly reached over for some tempura then some cali rolls and next some gyoza. She went all out on her yakisoba which was delicious to say the least. "This is so great." she exclaimed slurping up the noodles from her Udon as well.

"I wouldn't no where to begin with telling you that speciality. I just acquired it myself. Wish it was regluar though." she smiled drinking some more sake as she finished off her udon.

By the time he was just working on his unagi she had already wolfed down one order, and he could do nothing but look on in ammazement.

"That's...impressive!" He exclaimed chuckling, clicking his chopsticks at her. He swirled around a small cup filled with soy sauce and wasabi and dipped his piece of eel and rice into it, popping it into his mouth, munching down.

"What do you mean by that though?" He perked a brow at the end of her comment, sipping back his sake almost in unison with her.

"Being able to mention something and it happens. I mean...that's obsured." She said taking extra care of her yakisoba, she loved this stuff that she didn't want to diter the taste by sampling it with other foods.

She looked up at Brodie while he was busy enjoying his food. She took in his features smiling at how cute he was when he wasn't paying attention. "There are some things I wish I could get by simply speaking." she said softly looking down at her food. "Money, my own place...things like that. Perhaps other things as well."

"Yeah..." Brodie tilted his head and sighed, abit of a soft smile appearing over his face as he stared in awe of her beauty. He blinked and cleared his throat, popping a piece of maguro into his mouth.

"Yeah, I know how it is when the chips are down and the forces that be seem to just want to go after you with a vengence still..." He brushed a lock of his shaggy hair that had fallen in front of his eye out of his face. "Just got to hang in there kiddo..."

At that a light bulb lit over his head and he gave a sly grin, wiping it away with his napkin and quickly poured himself another cup of sake, knocking it back.

"Would you excuse me V?" He slid his chair back and got up. "Just one minute..." Brodie nodded and walked past her, heading inconspiculously to the currently unused karaoke machine in the corner of the room that was to her back.

Vivi looked up with a confused blank stare but didn't protest as Brodie left, she wanted to know what he was up to but at the same time the suspence was definately refreshing. "Alright." she said as he bowed out; remaining at teh table she ate idly watching other patrons of the joint from time to time.

"Alright...can't believe your doing this..." He wiped a hand down his face as he strolled over to the machine. In the past doing something like this that had the possibility for an intollerible amount of public humilation would never enter his mind, but something told him that now was not the time to chicken out and to go out on a limb. Besides, at the least it would be a good laugh. He hoped.

"Hmm..hope they have it.." Brodie deposited his money to select his song and flipped through the music menu. "Annddd...there we go..." He mumbled smiling to himself, going through the music groups and picking the The Five Stairsteps. He faced the color changing screen as he waited for the song to cue up. With a clear of his throat and acouple of taps on the mic to see if it was working, he decided that there was no going back. He closed his eyes as the music came on and slowly began to sing the lyrics of the '70's soul song that was a personal favorite of his, his voice crooning out rich and smoothly as he turn slowly to face in her direction.

"Oooh-oooo child
Things are gonna get easier...
Oooh-oooo child
Things'll get brighter...
Oooh-oooo child
Things are gonna get easier...
Oooh-oooo child
Things'll get brighter..."

Vivi choked on her yakisoba noodles at the sound of Brodie's familiar voice blasting over the speakers. Turning around to see him on stage she blushed full on red embarrased for him or herself, she didn't know but it was quite a treat. "What are you doing?" she mouthed across the way at him, sipping some sake to swallow down her noodles.

Brodie grinned and pumped a fist in the air as the recorded backup singers sang loud and clearly with him.

"Some day, yeah!
We'll get it together and we'll get it all done!
Some day...
When your head is much lighter!!"

He began grooving his way toward Vivi, pointing a finger at her as he sang. While the occasional note was off it actually wasnt too bad of singing for someone who had never had a lesson in his life. And anything he lacked he made up for in enthusiasm, any nervousness or self-doubt washed away in the moment. He switched hands with the microphone and circled her table, giving her a wink and a grin as he sang.

"Some day, yeah!
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun!!
Some day..
When the world is much brighter!!"

Vivi blushed more ducking low in the chair pretending she didn't know the man making a fool of himself. He did his part to squelch such a notion as she glared with a smile on her face shyly.
