BDSM stories

I've had some positive feedback via e-mail on my stories (Lunch With Max etc.) so went looking to see if I'd actually had any votes. Of the 500 stories listed in the TOPLISTS only one (1) was a BDSM story. Now I'm not saying that I deserved a vote (besides "Max" was posted for some reason in 'fetish'section although the sequel is in BDSM) but I find it amazing that only one story (and that at 356 out of 500) from the BDSM section rated votes. Any ideas why readers of BDSM aren't voting? I mean some must be worthwhile. My own are probably a bit 'soft' for this category to get votes but, SOMEONE must be writing good stuff. Suggestions?

I don't read BDSM its just not my sort of stroy, but if i did I do vote for those I read. Could be there is not a large BDSM audience out there. Ib eleive the audience is there it just may not be as larges as say the incest, or nonconsent or romance. Keep up the writing, don't let a lack of votes discourage you.

Here comes a confession. I read some of the BDSM stories, like that's a surprise. But I can't get myself to vote if I am voting less then a 4. I know, I know. But there , and please.... please... don't take this personal, haven't been any worth, to me... more the a 3. No, I haven't read them all. But the ones I have read were not up to My standards. I am not saying I am wonderful and great and listen to me. But the voting is a subjective thing and to me there haven't been any lately that deserved any better.

So there it sits. That paragraph is so badly written it doesn't deserve to be posted, but I am going to post it anyway. That's what I get for not drinking more.

Hey - welcome the comments. I don't think the argument that there are less BDSM stories holds water (half as many Fetish are posted (total) with many more represented in top 500) however accept that it might not be many peoples cup of tea or that many are not well written but still, only ONE well written? Fair enough, but is there ever a challange out there for someone to write a top BDSM story!

I've never voted a BDSM story but then I've only ever read part of one.Not my cup of tea,the very thought brings instant cringe.I don't like the idea of hurting someone for whatever reason and the idea of being hurt doesn't do a lot for me either.

just a little thought ... I was checking the views list that is in an experimental stage atm. Guess what ... top views are ... INCEST stories. A while ago someone made an effort to analyze the amount of searches for certain topics - again, INCEST was number one (adding up all key words that relate to that category it was leading the list by far if I remember right).

So seeing that alone makes me figure that the top votes would be somewhere in those categories too - more readers, more votes seems a likely correlation to me.

If you do not only look at the general top list, but at the respective BDSM or Fetish top lists you may see that indeed there are many stories with high votes (between 4 and 5) so check out for your stories' votes there and you can see how they do compared to the other stories of the same segment.

I too have stories out there I think are excellent - alas, they don't get votes ... I get positive mail feedback and all, but no votes. and even the best of mine are sitting there with 6 votes to never hop the hurdle to be seen in any top lists .. and I have no explanation as to the why - and indeed, most are BDSM related in one way or other, probably this is just disturbing people.

I have 3 BDSM stories. The first two were placed under fetish and they get higher votes even though I think the 3rd one is a better story and has more total votes than the other two combined.
