Curious to find out if any of you dear Literotica members have suffered any long-term or permanent injuries as a result of BDSM activities.

Speaking for myself, one of my life-long fetishes, spanning over half a century, has been trampling - both doing it to someone (mainly to women) and having it done to me. When I was in better shape a few decades ago, I would be able to withstand up to 20 minutes of vigorous high heel trampling including repeatedly being jumped on my stomach and chest in heels. I am still trampled regularly and have found one lady who enjoys receiving backwalks from me (she weighs 130 lb, I am 160 lb). However, the trampling I undergo is a lot more gentle and I can only endure high heels for less than a minute.

Although heel marks might last for up to several weeks and my stomach muscles and ribs might be sore for several days, I have never suffered any long-term injuries and am still fit and able to enjoy life without any medical problems whatsoever. None of my partners has ever sustained any long-term injuries, although some have reveled in their whip and cane marks for up to several weeks.

One of my submissive lady friends (and ocassional tramplee) suffered severe nerve damage to her wrists about two years ago as a result of being in very tight bondage with a lot of tension on her wrists for a considerable amount of time in a scene with her husband - an otherwise experienced bondage master. It appears that the injury will last for the rest of her life.

I would appreciate any views on this subject.

I have imflamed ligaments and some resultant nerve damage to my right shoulder, which causes pain and can effect mobility to my right arm.
This happened as a direct result of playing with bondage while pregnant. I had no idea that my ligaments would soften during my 3rd trimester and I was still gymming and feeling fit and strong.... stupid stupid stupid. :(

The good news is that it's not permanent, but it will take a while to heal.

I have some...some intended, others were not. At the end of the day though we acnowledge we are playing with risks and accept what may come.

I work as a midwife and while i do try and tell women that their ligaments will soften during pregnancy i have never thought of warning them not to try bondage activities. Perhaps i should:)

Cat, I'm just curious, can you give an example of an intended permanent injury?

The only thing I can imagine is foot-binding.

I figured it wasn't foot binding, that was just the only thing I could think of!

How has scarring injured you? Most people with scarifications don't consider themselved injured in any way. Some scarring can limit range of mobility, is that what you mean?

Can't say I always think of injury as always limiting mobility. There are many ways of being injured which leave permanent scars both inside and out...guess it is just interpretation. I suspect I have joint injury due to one particular occasion, but I adapt. Can't say I want my present adaptations due to the left over car accident injuries to have to remain as a permanent part of my life, but I do wonder some wanted to do. :( I also think with scarification, it is not usually something people enter into without it being their own wish and desire...usually for most it is the fulfilment of something they have wanted and desired for some time, hence the actualisation of it is a feeling of success etc. For me, though I love what it means and stands for, and everything that goes with it, due to already existing scars I have spent most of my life trying to come to terms with, adding more was not and still is not as easily accepted as a body mod enthusiast might approach intentional scarification.

:) Yes, that would be a good idea. Just make sure you sound "tongue in cheek" when you say that. LOL.

BTW: the physiotherapist warned me that my ligaments would remain a bit soft until about 6 months after the birth... didn't know that either. (So it's a good thing we've been too busy with the baby to play)

I haven't suffered any permanent injuries, and to the best of my knowledge, never inflicted any. Though if you count scars, I've done 4 cuttings...
