BC anyone?

Hey everyone. I'm not from anywhere near Vancouver but I am planning on taking a vacation there, possibly this summer. I was looking into several packages that offer grizzley bear watching as their main theme. I guess I was just wondering if anyone local could reccomend a reputable place to go. Are there any points of interest that I shouldn't miss while I'm out there?

Vancouver Island , Sunshine Coast, Salt Spring Island is better than any trip to Hawaii or Mexico if you ask me. Im not sure on packages but the Net will guide you there.

Thanks seekful! One of the places I was looking at mentioned Victoria Island. There seemed to be a fair amount of traveling around via puddle jumpers. It also boasted sea kyaking with orcas. I am totally entralled by wildlife and diffrent cultures. I obviously want to see what the natural habitat has to offer but I also want to see whats around as far as local city life goes. Someone told me recently that Vancouver has become a North American Amsterdam. That could be good and bad. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

you'd see polar bears up at Vic. island, its in and a around the arctic circle

as for grizzlies, theres a bunch of places on the west coast of Van .island that you can see them, Provincial parks and such, long beach is a nice one, its hit or miss for bears though, but spring time is decent time to try

Im sad to hear that Vancouver is known as the North American Amsterdam, it has its problems like any major city does but just stay away from there. I dont live in the heart of Vancouver, I live an hour away but once in a while I take the skytrain and walk around downtown Vancouver and its a wonderful, exciting experience. Capilano Suspension Bridge is a big draw for tourists and its in Vancouver. When I think of more I'll post.

Hey thanks for that. Very helpful. Now I just have to hope that I can pull myself away from my job for a week or two.

Well, I don't think Vancouver really has that kind of reputaion. It was just something I read in some magizine once.....Maxim? I was just curious to know if this claim held any water. Come to think of it, I believe that this was the only source making that claim

it's because of the safe injection site...

but its not that bad, in downtown Vancouver you don't really have to worry about the 'stories', every time I'm there, theres a cop every 10 blocks or so, and they're surprisingly really really nice - theres only like 3 places in the Great Vancouver area I'd worry about, and they're not even much to see; over all much safer than say Seattle

But it's an opinion held a few politicians in the 'States, though overall it is just fluff

and 'luck getting time off

Well, I live on the doorstep of NYC. I have seen some of the very worst that city has to offer. I am not too worried about crime. Just wanted to get a feel of the general area. Incidently, I am going there to see grizzlies. LOL and I'm worried about the people? Isn't irony so ironic some times?

I'm more scared of the average idiot than a wild animal
atleast with the animal I know I can defend myself and not have to deal with a million years of legal battles and paper work
