Batman Gender Bender Ooc

I do admit..though I am a fan of batman, I didn't know there was a character similar to my idea. I even feel less original..sorry..

It's okay. I said it was interesting! XD

Jason Woodrue, The Floronic Man, he's pretty obscure.

He's the one who trained Ivy in the comics, and he's more of a Swamp Thing villain than Batman's, though he was originally intended as a foe for The Atom.

I believe he was the original inspiration for Bushroot from "Darkwing Duck."

Turning Ivy's gender on its ear would naturally result in a male plant villain, which, hey, that's Woodrue. Not to worry.

Atom? Really? I thought he was a Green Lantern villain. He definitely becomes tied to Swamp Thing as another resident if The Green

Hal Jordan defeats him at one point, but Woodrue's first appearance is in "The Atom."

And, yeah, Gaiman had a whole "vegetable mythology" thing happening for awhile, inspired by Alan Moore's seminal work on "Swamp Thing." In "Black Orchid," Gaiman essentially unites all the plant-based heroes and villains into one cabal, I think all trained by Woodrue.

And, yes, while Woodrue was never as accepted by The Parliament of Trees as was oul' Alec Holland, he did partake of The Green.

So before I start the IC, do we have any ideas for a plot? Any suggestions?

Something that forces heroes and villains to reluctantly and tenuously join forces?

A mutual enemy? A fascist government plot? A cataclysm?

Alliances would walk a razor's edge, but guards would sometimes be let down to mixed results?

...I dunno.

I like to the idea of being forced to team up by something, an invasion of some form would be best I think. The invasion would likely be triggered by one of the villains accidentally or intentionally. Who, what, and why I don't know though.

Thornbrush could attempt to replicate Solomon Grundy in Slaughter Swamp, damage The Green, and cause Gotham's subjugation by vicious plant life?

Or the government, The DEO or Checkmate or something, could declare martial law and try to round up all of Gotham's crazies, "good" or "bad?"

It could be something as simple as mass breakouts from Arkham and Stonegate, though that wouldn't put all the villains on their back foot.

A martial law circumstance appeals to me actually now that you suggest it. To be honest I don't know much about the Batman mythos. I grew up on X-men. Working for Joker though I like the type of chaos martial law creates.

It'd be like The X-Men and The Morlocks having to team up with The Brotherhood and The Marauders to fend off uberSentinels.

But, yeah. Joker would be in her element. And so would her Quinn.

So can someone take me through the mechanics of how this works?
Seriously, I've never played a group thread and this one seems huge...kinda too huge

Wish I could, the few I've tried to join never got off the ground. I don't really know myself.

Is it a post per player cycle?

Sometimes.

You just react to whomever engages your character, be it combat, conversation, coitus, what have you. If you're talking by yourselves, you back and forth with impunity. If you're in a room with a buncha folk, it's a little more freeform.

You have to be a little more careful in group threads not to assume others' responses but to leave it open for their responses.

Is it a post per player cycle?

Its more like post per player, depending on whom your interacting with at the time. Some groups have it post per player, some don't. So for instance if the Joker is interacting with Quinn and Quinn alone, you'd wait for Erlind to respond to whatever you said, but if its a group setting like if we do the whole uniting both the good and bad of Gotham (which I like btw), and they are all talking, then it still depends on whom you're talking to. So if you're talking to Night Wing and she hasn't responded, you can't just pretend like she's not there, you have to wait. It's really like a one on one but with more people. As long as you don't God Mod, then everything should be fine.

okee dokee.

I have mixed feelings on the 'joining up' thing.
It feels less evil.
Shit, then again, my Joker is likely to have a significant body count, which can cause problems for unfortunate players

where's my damn crowbar????

HARLE????!!!!

Runs up out of nowhere. "Sorry your last friend I had ring on her finger I wanted." I hand Joker the borrowed crowbar.

Harle...Harle...Harle...how many times must I tell you...I get all the fingers!!

Argh, crowbars.

:: pops open her retractable quarterstaff ::

Let's dance.

(And it's still evil if you're only playing by the rules so long as it tickles your funny bone, but when the laughs get stale, it's zillion-volt handshakes for everyone.)

“You're right Miss J, but it was shined so very nice and I forgot most of what else was going on in your world.” Cringes a bit and shuffles his feet.

Oh Ratgirl, when will you ever learn to bring the whole damn staff?

leaps up ever so high, but mostly just spits a big wad of acidic gum at the black haired harlot

Go put it with the others and make sure you don't eat any of them or there will be NO SLEEP TONIGHT@!@!@

Wrinkles his nose accusatively and puts his hands behind his back. "If I don't sleep there is no way for me to dream about you." His tone of voice becomes dreamy, "You can be so mean my ... I mean your Joker."

I suggest something along the lines of the Cataclysm and No-Mans-Land storylines...

Damnation I am a geek.
