Bad news... please read.

i agree with muffin on the counciling advice.
in addition to county mental health agencies that offer help, most colleges offer help to students as well. after an attack like this, she could also request and receive an escort to and from classes from campus security.
while i have never been raped, i am a sufferer of post traumatic stress disorder(ptsd), and other places to get help would include your local ywca, which is currently offering rape/ptsd management with a grant from pfizer pharmaceutical, toll free information is 1-800-455-8300. call them and they will send her a free info pack. if all else fails, call dartmouth-hitchcock medical center at dartmouth university, hanover, new hampshire. they are the national center for ptsd treatment, and could probably refer you to someone nearby. sorry, but i don't have their toll free number off hand.
i hope this helps, and i pray for your speedy recovery from this vicious, cowardly attack.
if you need an ear of another ptsd sufferer, my e-mail is Docgtvt@loveable.com

I offer you my condolences. I haven't frequented the board a lot latly but I feel for you. I can imagine what you are going through and there's really nothing that I can add that hasn't already been said but I wish you well and offer an ear if you need it. Feel free to email me.

This is indeed sad news

:p

Does anyone know whether the rapist was ever apprehended or what happened to FeatherLight and MusclesBaby? Does anyone talk to them?

I know I don't know either of you..but please know that all I say is sincere. Though I was not raped, I was assaulted by 2 men. It was nothing short of miraculous that I got away. Even though I was never actually raped, the scars that this event left on my life are just amazing. The way it affected me..and still does. MusclesBaby...my advice to you is much like what has already been said. Support her to the best of your ability, I think you should very seriously consider counseling for yourself (as well as her), and remember that a great way to work off steam is to work out. That could be good for both of you. Strength on the outside, for some victims, translates to feelings of empowerment on the inside. I agree that the self defense class would be good, when she's ready.
Feather, anytime you need to talk. Be it phone, email, or instant message (you, too MusclesBaby) please click on the mail button beneath this..and find me. Though I dont' know you...I'd do what I could to help. EVEN if all you need to do is vent. Venting can help to clear your mind..clean the soul.
Take care...and allow yourself to be human. You will hurt, and if you let yourself..eventually you will heal.
