Simple email etiquette - when sending an email to a large list of people you BCC everyone - you don't provide everyone all the email addy's on the list. Some people are particular about who they give their addy's to.

Seems you also used a list you created a while ago because you've actually sent your "Does Anyone Care if MP Left" email to MP as well. And just about everyone responding to it is cc'ing MP on their responses whether they realize it or not.

I recently dis'd someone for the same thing. I was really unhappy to have my e-mail address forward to a couple of people on their list. Blind carbon copies is the way to go....or create a group directory that uses only a group name when sending.


Nothing has come of my paranoia, though, the ones who received it, A) did know me, or b) didn't care

I must say, I agree. Even though I have my email address listed, it's still impolite to list it in a long list. That makes it that much easier for the spammers and people I don't care to associate with.

Besides that, what's the point of asking all these people if they care about MP leaving? Why did you ask? Did you purposely omit your reason for asking? The absence of the reason makes me suspicious.

I care very much about MP leaving, but I understand completely her reasons for doing so.

Ha, I'm not on Blue's "A" list- didn't get the email. But if people are saying nasty things in response and their emails are going direct to MP, too, I feel sorry for her. That is cruel. There is nothing more candid than finding out what someone thinks about you when they don't know you can hear/read it.

I almost stepped inadvertently into the crossfire between Blue and MP on a thread as she proceeded in her inimitable style to rip him a new one. He walked blithely away, but I sense from his posts today that he's acting out some of his hostility toward her. He came back to report his little survey with a fair amount of glee. I know he's not alone in carrying resentments toward MP. Her tongue was both witty and sharp. It's funny, every time I type MP my mind goes to Military Police, which in way she was with her highly refined bullshit detector.

I appreciate the comments about email etiquette and privacy concerns. I can't help but wonder whether the faux pas was intentional rather than accidental...the ultimate passive-aggressive act. Just a thought that crosses my mind, not an accusation.

Good point, I guess. I just try to stick to keeping my comments on the bb as much as possible. An email campaign off the board for or against someone just seems silly to me.

I didn't see whatever the results were for Blue's poll, but I can probably guess. And even though I was not an MP fan and I'm not sad that she has chosen to leave, I'd also point out that Blue's email list wasn't likely a neutral universe to begin with. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in such a "survey."

Oh, I do agree that it was silly. But either way, I think it should have just been left alone. That includes the poll or any thread about it on the BB. MP is gone, so just let it be. I never really cared for her myself, but you don't see me "dancing on her lit grave" as someone else put it in another thread.

Blue is not a computer/e-mail wiz kid - shit, we all know he types slowly with two finger's hunting and pecking.

Like me he's just learning this shit and he cares even less about it than I.

Some of you younger folks have been pecking on these things since you were 12 or earlier.

Have a bit of compasion for us older coot's who are really - just getting into it.

One of the many reasons I am here - is to learn from the younger folks here - which I have - and I thank all of you who have contributed.

Hell - I made a stupid mistake minutes ago - posting my morning walk thread - {I posted and the - what might you call it(?) the "thanks for posting" page couldn't not be displayed - I was worred I would loose my work - so I back paged and resent it - assuming the first post had failed. Apparently it had not.

I make mistakes - we all make mistakes - we are all learning. Blue has learned here but the harshness of some of your less than compasionate replies - has made that learning experience a bitter one.

Maybe the negativity of the board has grasped everyone.

I doubt there was anything careless

about Blue doing what he did with the MP email nor was he careless about adding MP's email to the list so that she would be bombarded with emails voicing their opinions, positive or not.

I agree with the majority here who say that Blue was in bad form. This is malicious and is way more ugly than the harshest comment MP could've uttered to anyone. Sneaky, back-handed and self-promoting.

I do believe Blue's true colors have been revealed.

Well, he wasn't the only one. Apparently, there are a lot of people who can't tell the difference between "reply" and "reply to all."

I did not read the replies, by the way, so if you were on the list rest assured that I, for one, don't know what you said. However, I think that when someone strong, no matter how abrasive or irritating, leaves the board it does lessen us. I also think the email was rude.

It was a very petty thing to email that type of letter out to people. Seems to me if they wanted to comment they would have done do on the BB. Kinda like when people have their friends log in to trash someone when they can't handle the heat. Computer ignorance is not an excuse for bad manners and even worse judgement. How come I never get email. LOL Anyways I think this is Blue's business and it he emailed people about someone I don't think he ment for that person to get it. If it did that is not his fault unless he sent the email to her directly. I don't think he should apoligize for his actions. The people who got his email shouldn't have forward it on to MP. Maybe Blue just has to realize who he can trust and not trust. I also think he was right about not bringing it up on the board. There is enough shit already started on here.

Blue's sin is that he sent it to everyone in his email list that has ties to lit. Where everyone can see email addresses. He did it specifically to troll MP in private. She sure spanked him but good in the reply.

I'm not demanding or expecting an apology. I'm calling him out on what was at the very least poor judgment and manners and at the very worst a deliberate attack. At least a few of the people on the list were not pleased with how Blue handled this.

No he wasn't. You don't keep something private by sending it PUBLICALLY to 20 odd people including MandamePandora. He either made a dumb ass mistake or he did it deliberately. In case you're interested, the general consensus seems to be that he did it deliberatly.

Some things are worse then trolls. Either way you always have the option to ignore what you don't like.

Let me once again point out the other issue here. Everything else aside, Blue gave out personal information. That sucks. When he sent this email out he provided every one on the list with everyone else's email address - without their permission. That, as I said, is bad form.
