Hello Everyone
I have been on here for a long time, I have posted a few times..
My question is this, does anyone know where to do Free background checks on someone. I know there are alot of pay sites, was wondering if there was a free place to go... like checking someones name, running a license plate number, checking on birth records, etc.....
I know this is not the normal question for Lit. but I figured there are so many smart people here, if it could be done someone here would know...

Thank You in advance :rose: :rose: :rose:

If you know where they live you can find a lot of records in the local recorders office, you can search the computers via an address or a name or a land plate number.

Although they are meant to check you can get birth records there as well.

You are not supposed to be able to get the information on DMV, but if you know where they live and you drive by and see one car in the drive at night and no car there in the day you have that info too. You may also "know" a member of law enforcement and they "may" check out the DMV records for you.

you can either;

Google them, and/or basicly brouse the web with their information, its intresting how much information is on here.

go to public record keepers (usualy keep all information on all people- its how lawyers get their info on people) basicly, give them name, number, plates, and exctera and youll get all basic information.

any hospital that they have gone to can pull up medical records, but requires you to prove that you are a reletive or have medical reasons.

any police station can give you criminal records as well as a full background check if asked for, again, you must have full reason and or be related to. (most of the time you also need a lawyer present)

You can hack into the digital information Database and do a manual Full background information search based on phone number, social security, last name, first name middle inntial. but this is rather illegal and high up there on fellony type charges.

i personaly did the very last one, but thats because my dad works for the Government he can get full background checks, medical records, police records, even travel records of a person in 24 hours of request. and he gets it for free. but then again, i also have to explain why i would ever need a full background check on some one... which is why i never do it.

Technically, no. But I suppose that explains your use of quotation marks.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just that it's not supposed to happen.

There are so many technical nos about obtaining information that is technically in the public domain, that you are right, I technically covered their status with my quotation marks.

Hence all the fun people have with freedom of information requests, in order to obtain the free information that should be available.

FWIW... if there IS a free service for this i wouldn't trust it for shit. i wouldn't trust it from an accuracy standpoint and i wouldn't trust it from a security standpoint. it'd probably install all sorts of cookies and mal-ware on your pc.

just my two cents.

Not to mention the *ick* factor of "If I can get this free on someone else, what can a *stalker* get on me?"

If you have a legitamate reason for the information - i.e. court action/legal type stuff, your lawyer would be able to get that info for you - or you can get it from the clerk of the court (i.e. home address type stuff) in order to serve papers. But then there are services for that as well.

I want to thank all who have replyed here. It is a small legal issue regarding a Tenant who owes back rent, moved out in the middle of the night. I need to find out information so I can proceed with court action.

Thank You All :rose: :rose:

If you know where he/she works you are two steps ahead.

You should already have full name.

If you can track down their car in the parking lot and see if they still work there, a court will sometimes proceed with name and place of employment, hire a process server to lay the paper on him/her, video it from 100 yards away if you can.

The implied threat here is that you may garnish his wages, to recoup your back rent.

Personally I like to take a month in advance as security deposit, and if you haven't paid by the 5th of the month there will be an eviction notice on the door by the 6th.

Pay on time and get $50.00 off the rent for the month, jack the rent $50.00 more than you want a month from the next tenant, and offer them $50.00 back if they pay in full by the 2nd of the month. Watch them beat a path to your door on the 1st from now on.
