When I was a teener my father gave me a western written by one Louis L'Amour. Over time I slowly collected his books and read them. I ended up with quite the library of L'Amours by the time 1984 came around.

Because I was moving to Germany and was limited in what I could bring with me I ended up donating all of the L'Amours to the local library.

Now I have a Nook and I found that B&N have the L'Amours for between $3.00 to $5.00 each. I bought a couple of them and once again fell in love with his books. Now I'm slowly rebuilding my library.

Anyone else have old friends like this they have recently found again?

Louis L'Amour is and always has been one of my favorites. I tend to go back to him when I need a dose of violence and common sense.

Recently picked back up some Rob Thurman books. They reminded me that sometimes, it really is good to be a strong guy. It was a nice change from the constant barrage of Mary Sue females that can do no wrong.

I bought some Louis L'Amour recently to replace books I had lent and didn't get back. I also bought a job lot of Zane Grey paperbacks.

Recently I have been re-reading:

Dorothy L Sayers
John Buchan
Rafael Sabatini
Baroness Orczy (Scarlet Pimpernel and others)
Terry Brooks
David Gemmell
Q (Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch)
Sir H Rider Haggard

But then I read a lot.

After I got married and moved in with my wife I packed all my Louis L'Amour books. I can;t remember how many I had but it was a lot and I know they are packed still to this day in a couple of books. that was almost 20 years ago. I think It maybe time to get tehm books back out and read them once again.

Back in the 70s & 80s, I read several of John le Carré's novels. I've recently started rereading them & being amazed at how the world has changed since then.
