Well I am home again and I am forced to use AOL since my mom won't get rid of it. Normaly this is not so big a deal cause I can still use IE and not the crappy AOL browser. Nope she deleted IE cause something was causing the computer to crash so she just deleted everything that she did not use.

Meaning tons of my software that I mostly don't have backups for. I have backups at my other comp at school but not here just great.

What she just can't understand is why the computer keeps crashing. She blames it on the little flash or applet games my sister plays online. :( It is aol my god it is the most resource hogging program left on this computer. It brings the computer down from 65% to 50%. Most of my old video games don't take that many resources.

Has anyone else had to break the AOL addiction of a family member? I can't take it a month with only crappy AOL. I am going to try and dl netzero later tonight see if the computer can hold together that long. Hopefuly it will and i can use that then reinstall/find IE on this thing again.

Maybe I will finaly break down and track down opera that is supposed to be a great browser.

Sometimes it seems like I'm the only person on this board that actually likes AOL.

Oh well. To each their own.

AOL is good for families with little kids cause it offers a reasonable online protection. (I said reasonable not total)

For Adults its useless.

Nope....I have no problems with AOL. It's been a year and I can't break the addiction.

It is fine on a brand new comp that is in good shape. This one is almost three years old and has massive problems. It idles at about 60% resources unless i shut down a bunch of useless programs. Then it will got to 65 or 66%. That is not enough to run AOL 7.0 on this comp it will crash continiously. AOL 6.0 well run sort of but not so great.

I can't stand AOL cause it is just to dumb and slow for me i guess. I mean when you are used to lightning fast t3 connections AOL blows dead bloated goats

I've heard of netzero, is it any good?

I used it last summer and it was great. Faster then AOL and free. Just have to put up with their little banner which is not that bad. Sometimes the banner even has useful stuff on it but not that often. I dont' know what the current version looks like, but I will found out tomorrow and pick between that and AOL damnation for a month.
