I received an e-mail about this unlikely family arrangement, and decided to check it out.
Surprisingly, it IS true, the baby hippo has adopted the female tortoise as its mother.....see this link for the full story and photographs.
However they got together, its a lovely, heart-warming story, and the pictures are very high in Awwwwwwwwwww factor.
