Ayn Rand. A query.

You copped this from the GB; you should at least give credit where credit is due.

Every person on this forum has been forced to pay into not only Medicare, but Social Security. You have no choice, you can't fight it, you can't refuse, I know, I tried. I even entered, 000-00-000 as my social security number and either had to change it or get fired.

I have not supported most of which my country has done throughout my entire life; at least I made an effort not to support it with my labor and my income. Selena Kitt happily does so, that is up to her.

I paid into Social Security for over 60 years, had I been permitted to invest what they confiscated from me into a private insurance account, I would have 3.7 million dollars to bequeath my children. Fuck You!

I paid into Medicare since they began stealing my money in 1966, under the Johnson 'Great Society" scheme, they stole all that money, as they did with social security. Had I been free to invest in a private medical insurance plan without the government stealing my income, I would have a 'gold plated' medical plan that would cover everything from Viagra to Breast enhancement, my choice, I paid for it.

So fuck you, whoever started this Thread as an attack on Ayn Rand, how puerile, how base, the Lady has been dead for almost 30 years and your hatred still foams? You poor stupid son-of-a-bitch! Get a life!

What should we make of this. Has Ami's heroine feet of clay?:)

Or is there an excuse?

You do realize that social security is just returning the money the government has taken from you?

Whether you think the money should have been taken "at gunpoint" and "invested" in ways you wouldn't wish it to be invested -- aka "loaned" to the genral fund -- the only way to recover the money the government has taken from you in social security and medicare withholding is to sign up for social security and medicare.

How much did medicare cover for your recent hospital stay?

The money isnt returned. If you die before you collect you get nuthin. In fact, the government takes money out of the social security trust fund and leaves an IOU that tax payers are responsible for. Thats like stealing money from someone and making them liable for your theft.

I had to read that twice, but yes...they spend the money you pay in on butterfly research and then tax others to pay for what they stole...sighs....I want to say how could we have been so stupid, but, like the Nazi's they didn't leave us much of an avenue to resist....

And.....sighs again...there will be no justice....the bastards screwed us and got away with it and no one will pay for the crime.

That....is....sad....gee...thanks...JBJ

The point of Social Security is to protect society from having a bunch of people who don't think ahead on the public dole (or not as much so) at the end of their lives. It is a fallacy to assume that a large percentage of people will save or invest the portion of the money that goes to Social Security for their retirement. Those who would will anyway, because Social Security isn't meant to be their full retirement, and they know it isn't. And a good many of those who would have been been permitted to invest the money themselves instead would lose it all--or more of it than they get back from the safety of the government's stewardship over it. Anyone who has been here in the last three years can see that great possibility of that happening.

Social Security is a cynical--but realistic--look at what society as a whole will do in looking forward to keeping themselves from being a burden to society in their end years. It's only a hedge on high risk.

So...you take it upon yourself to steal the peoples money, with the promise to put it in a 'trust fund', to pay for their retirement; then you spend the money in the trust fund....steal it again, and expect anyone to believe you did this in the public interest?

Fuck you!

No, you've made clear YOU are stealing the people's money. You are letting the government pay to keep you alive and you're a tax deadbeat.

The government hasn't defaulted on paying people their Social Security benefits. You are blustering against something that hasn't happened there.

Besides, as a tax deadbeat you really have no justiication to even being in the dicussion of what the government does with money you haven't contributed to.

methinks Ami's life is unravelling and he's trying to figure out how it could have happened.

There's no way on earth it could be his fault, so it must be the gummints

Maybe JBJ has an unoccupied Laz-Y-Boy he can use.

If you die before you collect you get nuthin.

You really should read what you quote. The only way to get any of the money you pay into social security and medicare back is to sign up for benefits -- that implies living long enough to qualify for benefits.

So it's not my money that they keep in a trust fund. If it's my money, it's my money, and my kids can inherit it when I croak.

It's taxes collected, then given to seniors.

Lost your temper Ami? Too bad. You spend all day touring this site looking for someone to upset ... and then boast about it as you did today about your brief visit to the GB. As you might say "heh heh"

PS I don't hate Rand or you for that matter... despise you perhaps, but not hate, neither of you is worth it.:D

Harold pointed out that Rand was entitled to claim social security and Medicare. He was quite right but Harold did not point out that a rejection of all government support was central to her political ideals and that view was repeated many times in Rand's published books

But Rand, the millionaire author claimed these funds and that defines her, as a first rate hypocrite.

Ami, I'm older and meaner than you, here's some advice. If you can't take a bit of punishment don't try to dish it out. "Heh heh"

ONE MORE TIME....pay attention. IF YOU DIE BEFORE YOU COLLECT YOU GET NUTHIN.

Roll it around in your noggin for a while till it grafts.

Not from the viewpoint of Libertarians.

And, actually, your children CAN "inherit" your benefits -- sometimes even before you die or start to draw benefits yourself.

Social Security is one of the few "taxes" that is repaid to the taxpayer based on the amount of 'taxes' paid in. It is, in fact, not a tax, but an involuntary insurance premium.

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."

A fact that so many here believe in, I could list them, but what's the use they would just deny it anyway.

So getting the money that was taken out of my paycheck for so many years it's hard to remember...1966, that was the year, is stealing?

That's the most fucked up logic to ever have been shit out of you mouth dickhead.

Although, it you really did work for the government for all those years you claim, I suspect you are the one stealing from the taxpayer right now.

No, to the government it's found money...they take it and spend it on porkbarrel projects they want.

So, if I invest my money in stocks and bonds but I hate corporate america, I should never sell my stocks at a profit or cash my bonds in when they mature? Doing so would make me a hypocrite?

Talk about being an ass.

You are absolutely correct but, I have not researched this so it is only from memory, I do believe your widow is eligible to collect from your contributions once she becomes eligible for SS. She can also collect if you have minor children at the time of your death.

Aha! So the best defense is to out live the bastards!

LBJ. Check.
J.Edgar Hoover. check
Richard Nixon, Check
Ronnie Raygun, Check.

So far so good. :D

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."....

Finally, a succinct explanation of free market capitalism. Thanks, Zeb. :)

(You are aware of the fact that we're witnessing the greatest transfer of wealth in US history? Since 1980, 80 percent of the total increase in America's income has gone to the top 1 percent. I'd classify that as "plunder", wouldn't you?)

How does one not pay taxes for 40 years, but pay into social security for 60 years? I'm guessing:

1. Ami's statement from last year: "I did not pay taxes for 40 years" was a lie.

2. Ami's statement from today: "I paid into social security for over 60 years" was a lie, no doubt to justify his taking advantage of the free Medicare treatments that would have cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars had he paid out of pocket.

3. Since Ami freely admits he enjoys posting BS on forums as a form of entertainment, that would indicate everything he says is a lie.

I'm going with #3. Since Ami has no moral code (other than repeating select phrases memorized from Ayn Rand books,) it would seem to be the most logical explanation for his peculiar and irrational behavior.
