Axios: How Biden Botched The Border

I knew it. I KNEW it. Of COURSE Rightguard blames the Republicans nixing the border deal (that Biden and the Democrats put together) on Biden. Even though Biden and the Democrats put together a package to secure the border and the Republicans shot it down (maybe in his fantasy land it was the other way around?) I mean, the utter lack of logic here makes me wonder if these people arent experiencing a far worse cognitive decline than they are always accusing Biden of.

Sort of like 49er fans blaming the Chiefs punt returner for their own punt return guy basically costing them the Super Bowl.
 
New ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday:

“Americans find there is blame to go around on Congress' failure to pass legislation intended to decrease the number of illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border -- with about the same number blaming the Republicans in Congress (53%), the Democrats (51%) and Biden (49%). Fewer, 39%, blame Trump.

“More Americans trust that Trump would do a better job of handling immigration and the situation at the border than Biden -- 44%-26% -- according to the poll.”

If trump fulfilled his main campaign promise -- the one the got the racists like bummer to vote for him -- we wouldn't be in this mess.

People are getting bussed over the border and only going to a few places: NYC, Chicago, Denver. Now they're getting overwhelmed. Why can't they split it up?

Florida and Texas are bussing their responsibilities out of state. Is that what you mean?
 
We have a trade imbalance. Getting Mexico's healthy young people capable of reproduction would be great if they are traded for Americans of similar value. For example, Ted Cruz. Next time he vacations in Mexico, he stays there. One trade done.

Trump's solutions were certainly innovative: build a moat and fill it with snakes and alligators; send in the Army and shoot illegals crossing the border [just in the legs to slow them down, he said hesitantly to the looks of the crowd he addressed after having said to kill them.]; make Mexico pay for the 30' high wall; and, of course, to electrify the fence and put flesh-piercing spikes on top. Never mind the idea of using firetrucks to lift Texas cattle that needed water back and forth from the Rio Grande. [All true stuff - no bull.]

At one point in October 2019, he tried to order his staff to close the border the very next day. Shut it all down in both directions. His staff went bananas over that one since he was allegedly pissed they couldn't get it done.

Why? It's about politics. The buses and airplanes are being sent to heavily democratic states and cities that espouse 'sanctuary city status.' Fill them up to create burdens, and they start complaining about what is going on at the border, finally. Some people were even sent to Martha's Vineyard without knowing where they were going and certainly not a place to find work on a rich persons' vacation island

If you did something using a humanitarian approach, such as spreading the influx across the country, that wouldn't help the political cause.

Look at the bi-partisan border bill that died. After all the harping about fixing the border, a plan arrived in the House, and Trump said - nah - and just in the blink of an eye, every Republican in the House said 'Nah, it can wait a year - no rush. [Trump wants it as a campaign plank to harp about.]

The reason voters don’t approve of Biden’s handling of the border is because encounters have skyrocketed since he took office. HR 2 passed the House. The Senate won’t touch it.

Good point. About 450 miles were completed before Biden halted further construction. That’s probably a big part of the reason for the public’s disapproval of the president’s handling of immigration.

Biden halted diversion of funds from the Department of Defense. That is why construction was halted.

New border wall construction was budgeted in the bipartisan border bill.
