Things that provoke awe in me:

*the strength people possess to overcome great tragedy in their life; their ability to keep going....

*observing small children as they figure things out, seeing that lightbulb click on in their head...

*loving someone deeply and being loved in return

Great thread JR. I will come back to add more....

Thank you nastygirl, it is the contributions of people like you that make this thread. :rose:

Spiritual ~~ the love of a friend that accepts you as you are, holds you when you cry creating a place of safety with room to heal, laughs with you when needed and at you when called for, who knows your heart, understands your mind, and dwells within your soul always

Physical ~~ the feeling when my 5 yr old son wraps his whole self around me at the end of his day away from me as if he is trying to melt into me, love so powerful it brings tears

Intellectual ~~ the give and take, push and pull of time with those who can meet, match and stimulate you on multiple levels, intellectually, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and sexually

Natural ~~ love

That is it to a degree but it is more that I found this place and some wonderful people through it. The sense of community, the sharing of so much that is so deep is amazing.

Awesome?

The overpowering love of a woman I know, and the aching need I have for her.

A raging storm.

The quiet that blankets everything after a heavy snow.

The sea, breaking on rocks.

The smile of a child.

This is a wonderful thread...I smiled as I read the posts. We need more like this...Just plain ol' feel good threads! Thank You

The anonymity of being on line allows for more openess, it is a wonderful phenomena of modern age to lower barriers that seem to pop up everywhere in our industrial age.:rose:

That is an aspect of it but also there is the notion of finding a place where there are people who can say "I understand, I know what you are feeling" and you know they mean it. Its not just pretty words that leave you feeling as a child who has been patted on the head and sent on their way.

That type of understanding is awesome.

You are right without sincerity behind them, the words are empty. I hope the understanding aspect is a referral to this thread:) Thank you for your thoughts, I am guilty of projecting onto people some of the wisdom I have found sometimes but I do not mean to be patronizing.
I hope to see you again Georgia Girl.:rose:

I'm around, stop by a few of my places and join us.

Everyone is welcome at the GA Directory, most of the ones who post there don't live there.

Hope to see you around and thank you for beginning this wonderful thread, its nice to see what makes people smile and the deeper thoughts than just orgasm competitions.

The sunset last night was magnificent here in Central Florida.

I am in awe of birds in flight.

Watching the Indian River Lagoon(holds more biodiversity than any other lagoon in the contenintal United States) boiling with life, dolphins, manitees, pelicans, seagulls, terns, ducks, herons and egrets. Watching the fish schooling in the water. One word,
Wonderful!

And now outside my window is a Screech Owl offering consensus on my statement.

JR...I hear you.

I just moved from my house in the country. On clear crisp nights like this I could throw my head back and see a million stars. And hear the two horned owls across the creek call to each other. Evenings around sunset I would see the deer emerge in the last light of day.

I hate this box in town...and as soon as my divorce is done I will move back out to see & hear nature's awesome beauty.

Thank you. I'm in a small town, now. But it's just not the same.

I live in a small town, too. But I often go to where I can watch the deers and other wildlife.
The other day I sat watching this beaver swimming along on his back. He was so darn cute I wanted to take him home with me.
I, also, saw some red foxes playing that same day.
Life is good when I'm watching the animals.:)

I'm most definitely in awe of them....

soft kisses,

I am in awe of the love and lust I feel for my honey, whspr.....
So sweet, so powerful, so intoxicating it only gets better and better.

IWH, I live in a county where the woods are almost all gone to developement. Fortunately there are some areas that have been preserved...There are only two spots where one can go out and not hear civilization...in between airplanes that is...but when the silence descends it is like a healing shroud...I love it.

Something that stands out in my memories....In a 35 sailboat off of Puerto Rico sailing on 20 foot gentle rounded waves...as we would top the wave the wind would fill the sails and down the wave we would surf....wow..

I have seen some wonderful birds of prey lately...yesterday a pair of Bald Eagles, a Merlin, American Kestrels, Red-tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk.

I have seen them from time to time through out my life but recently I have become an active birder and am astounded by all the activity around me that I was oblivious to before. The cauldron of life boils whether we acknowledge it or not and it gladdens me to see such resilience in this time of diminishing of the natural force. I am in awe of life and all the beauty it brings.

I can't believe that I forgot to add the young Northern Harrier that I saw consuming a snake.
