Slowly
quietly, sneakily,
she creeps up to me.
Placing her head upon my pillow she snuggles closer.
Content she sighs, her breath upon my neck.
Feeling me move she eases herself closer.
Her nose cold upon my neck.
I wake, turning my head to look I find myself staring into a pair of luminouse green eyes only inches from my own. Gasping I back away.
Uncontrolled I lunge away until I feel myself falling.
Falling,
falling, the darkness whispering past my panicked body as I plummet for what seems like forever.
With a loud crash followed by a grunting scream I slam into the floor by the bed.
Was this a dream? Had I just woken from a nightmare? Looking up I can see her looking quizicly down at me. Now I understand.
Sliding shakily into bed I mutter to myself, "Damned cat just scared the shit outa me." as I hear and feel my wife giggling on the other side of the bed.
