AVs - where do you get them?

As my 100th post rapidly approaches the subject of an AV crosses my mind.

Can someone enlighten me as to how the AV thing works, where they come from (obviously you can make your own) etc. I know that people generally choose an AV to reflect their personality/make a statement and I've seen one that is just plain gross!

I know it's a bit daft to have to ask but there you go.

Beyond that, any artwork you want can be turned into an Av, you just have to decide what you like - specifically; no asking people for an Av that "suits" you. People can find specific characters, etc., but you have to have a good idea of what you want to start with.

Thanks very much - I've loaded a "temporary" one until I can find something more suitable - hopefully soon! I agree about not asking others - I have to be comfortable with it whether others think it's ridiculous or not.

Very much appreciated as, although with 100 posts you get an AV, I still feel like a virgin - especially on the General board

We had a spate of people using those dolly things which I hate so when I got my AV I decided to go for something a little more "real", I also like to shock a little so most of my AV's have that side to them.

I find most of them at porn or body mod sites.
