I don't ahve a good program to do photo editing.. i was wondering if anyone could help me shrink a 280ish KB file down to AV size?

I'd like to know that too... So I can use a pic of myself as an AV for a while.

W&U beat me to the Irfanview recommendation. It's a FREE image management program that is the second best program I know of for resizing and converting images from one format to another.

The Best program I know of for resizing and converting images from one format to another is Paint Shop Pro. However it is NOT free. There is a 30 day time-stamped free trial version available at www.jasc.com so you can try the progrm before you shell out the $125US price for a registered version.

If you have Microsoft Office, you should have MS PhotoEditor as part of the package. It does an acceptable job at resizing most images if you take it in stages and don't try to reduce a huge image down to 150x150 pixels in one operation and use the "resample" function instead of the "resize" function.

The Limited Editions of Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe PhotoDeluxe provided with many scanners or cameras are also good programs for editing and resizing images. They offer more automated functions for common editing needs, like reducing red-eye and color corrections but are more complicated whenit comes to resizing and saving images in formats other than their proprietary formats.

Almost any photo editing program that has a resample function will work. The main advantage of Irfanview, Paint Shop Pro, and he other programs I mentioned is that there are more people here at Lit who have them and can give specific instructions to help you learn to get the most out of them.

I have photoshop ...

I'm addicted to it, so feel free to throw any pics at me and I'll funk 'em up and resize for you. :)
