At the top of the screen click the "user cp" button, and once there, you click the "edit options" link. You'll find the avatar section on the bottom of the page.

followed your instructions and the form was defaulted to "no" and it wouldn't click off. when i pushed the icon for "avatar" it said to choose from a list, but again nothing there to choose.

Lit is configured so that youhave to use a "custom avatar" -- a picture 150x150 pixels and a file size of 20480 bytes; or smaller.

Find a picture you like, resize it to fit the size limits and install it as a custom avatar.

irfanview is a free image managementprogram that makes resizing pictures for avatars simple if you don't already have one -- www.irfanview.com

I do my avatars with a free program called Project Dogwaffle and am quite taken with it. Wonderful thing with so many variations and brushes, and gif abilities.
Failing that- microsoft Paint can be handy for resizing/text adding.

No, you're not stupid
Here's what ya do. I went to your Ampic thread (hott!!) and pulled the pic I believed you wanted to be your AV, and I resized it for you. It's the attachment below.
First off, just right click it and save it to your desktop.
Now go up top and click on "user control panel", then "edit options", then scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page till you see where it says "change avatar", click that. On the following page put a tick in the bottom section that says custom avatars. Then at the bottom of that section where it shows where you can browse to your computer where your AV is at, simply browse to your desktop and find your AV, then click "submit modifications", and you should be good to go

now it says that for some reason I'm not able to post it b/c it's not in a valid format...but when I save it...it is.

I haven't a clue why it won't install as a .jpg, It should without any problems at all. I took it and converted it to a .gif, try it as that and see what happens.
