Hi! I know this is an old question, but I checked the FAQ and user guide and downloaded Irfanview, and I still can't get my photo resized to fit for my avatar.
Will someone be kind and help a nincompoop resize?

If you can find it, there's also a HT thread where you can post pics for others to resize for you. It's probably best to figure it out on your own, in the spirit of learning to fish and all that.

What format are you saving the resized image as? JPeG, or PNG are probably your best choices, but GIF works well if you don't have too many colors.

I use Paint to resize. Works great.
