Avatar

Update: I tried uploading a new avatar, namely a stylised letter "S". A few hours later, when I checked back, the new design had been approved by moderation, and it displaced the previous avatar on the stories side, so my avatar is now uniformly an S that might be open to interpretation (a snake? Mr Hankie's cousin? who knows).
Changed mine last night and it's still blank

Either they got swamped with new avatar proposals that must be approved by a moderator, or yours does not pass muster (e.g. you don't own the artwork, nudity, etc.).

It's a picture I took on my phone, no nudity

The Writing Group avatar is back, as of 49 minutes ago. My profile page listed it as me updating my profile, but I didn't. I suspect Manu tracked down the bug and scripted a fix.

My writing profile hasn't changed

The picture that I’ve been using here on the message board disappeared, and for some reason it started using the picture that I had on my profile on the story section of Lit. So I’m wondering if there was a change that is tying it back to your profile that you created on the story section
Weren’t they always tied together? I wouldn’t even know how to have a different one on the story side vs the forum sode

I had mine taken away, was not even showing any nudity i was wearing a tank top with a little bit of top boob showing. A really little bit showing, so i guess no nudity what so ever is allowed which seems correct.

My avatar is still up on the story side, but it's been rejected on the forum side after resubmitting with no feedback as to why.

It's SFW and just shows a drawing of woman sleeping on her writing desk. It's not AI, it's an avatar I've used across several sites for almost a decade.

Ok.. we know about the Avatar scare and crackdown
But? Since when do the avatars tell us if people are online at Lit????
Was this addition part of the glitch
Or
Did I never notice this before !?

You just didn’t notice it.

Folks can set their profiles to not reveal this. I highly recommend that anyone with a female sounding username opt for this privacy setting.

Never noticed it. I know there was a setting. I thought you had to open their profile

Maybe many people have it set to not show they are online so you hadn’t been presented with the green dot? I can’t imagine wanting mine to always show when I’m on.

I understand all that
I never noticed it on my own avatar… then others. I totally get why many would not want that to show up

I have had the same issue. On the main site, my avatar still works fine but not on the forum.
Supposedly the site wanted to check some avatars for suitability (is that the right word?) so they removed some of them and want you to reload the photo. One person had a red high-heeled shoe and they took that one down. I mean, you can see red shoes on Amazon! I saved my photo but they didn't mess with trains, I guess. Sometimes Lit can be a very frustrating site.

P.S.: If Lit is based in England, than they are following different publishing standards from American ones. Also, online rules may be different from print ones. Like Portnoy's Complaint couldn't be here because the protagonist is about thirteen at the start. Published in the 1970s!

But there are still naked bodies out there both male and female I just don't get what is happening at all.
