Reading profiles of authors today, I happen to notice that almost all of us prefer the cleverest of house 'pets', the cat.

So, humble authors, which art thine favoritest house pets?

And, by the way, I hear one 'pussy... cat' joke, and out come the knives! :)

I have three kitties, and enough poetry and stories for them to fill a book.

I always wanted a dog, but own cats. Is this a clue about my tortured soul?

I have a black cat name "Sable", go figure...little imagination. Like me, she wants what want when she wants it.

Hmmmmmmm

We've had dogs and cats, our current owner is 'Monty' a ginger and white Tom cat who displays a level of independence and intelligence that most humans would die for.

We had, (until about 5 yrs ago), a Jack Russell Terrier dog, who also displayed great spirit and intelligence, Archie as he was named died of old age at 15 yrs old, bless.

I could never take to one of these lap dog docile breeds who do as they are told all the time, I like my pet's as I do my ladies, with some spirit and fight in them.

No cats here, I'm violently allergic to them. My dog is a poodle because they have hair not fur.

Cat person here, though at the moment the household also consists of two mice in a habitrail. I have always preferred cats, finding dogs too needy ;)

Umm what's this about guys with their snakes, tell us more, hehe!!

I like both animals equally as I am an equal opportunity kind of person. so I have a dog and a cat though only one of them is a pet eek:

pS lol jk really do have both

or do I:D

My favorite pets are cats and ferrets. Although I've owned damn near everything else over the years, including hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, a rabbit, parakeets, etc.

Yep, cats. Used to have three, but one, a viciously lovely ginger tom came off somewhat the worst with a car (no, he wasn't driving). Just got the two now, but I don't bleed quite so much.

Cat person, although I heart dogs as well. They just don't share the same affinity with me that cats do. Unfortunately, my darlin is excruciatingly allergic to cats and I'm reluctant to return him.

I have a cat that is mine all mine named Trinket because she is my treasure. I love her. Then my bf has two guinea pigs named Ggizmo and Mohawk like in movie Gremlins. They are cute. He got them as a tip since he is a pizza delivery man. Apparently one delivery had them because his 14 ft snake wouldn't eat them. Then we have his baby bird named Hawk that he raised since it hatched. God I hate that bird and I love to watch my cat chase it. *evil laugh*

Two cats come only slightly below the SO in my esteem.

For the SO it's rather different; I come way below her cats in the esteem stakes.

Since my last post in this thread, the two mice, which were supposed to be same-sex, became the proud parents of about nine pink squirmy grubs. Took the whole family back to Petco today. So, until we get the rat my kid is petitioning for (ONE rat), the house is back down to us and the three cats.

I can't believe this. You returned a whole mess of cat food to Petco???

It's all I can handle to feed the cats that nasty gelatinous canned food ... giving them a live meal? No thanks! ;)

I love cats and dogs, but I'm allergic to both. I've owned both at one time or another, but currently I stick to human pets.

Cats are different

All my cats, I currently have three, have chosen me. I don't think that cats are nearly in the same class as dogs of which I have two. Dogs are loyal, obedient, there when you need them. Cats on the other hand seem to pretty much live their lives the way they want to. They show up for attention when it suits them, they sleep where ever and on whatever they damn well please, and disappear for days on end.

I prefer dogs, but can't resist cats; they are just too damn interesting.
